Review: It Worked !! - I have a 2004 Dodge Durango 5.7 Hemi and that I purchased with 197,000 miles. I always change plugs on a used vehicle when I first buy one. NEVER had a problem till this time. ALL plugs were extremely tight, hard to turn loose. The 4th plug hole from the front, on the right side broke off, these plugs sit DEEP in the cylinder head. I WAS DEVASTATED, and stressed out to the max. Figured I was screwed big time, faced with towing it somewhere or attempting to pull the heads myself. Anyway, it took about 3 days getting the broke plug out, and my friends help, and soaking in PB Blaster. YOU HAVE TO PUNCH OUT THE CENTER OF THE BROKEN PLUG, and then drive the extractor in the center of the remaining threaded metal part of the plug. TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE, I used the 2nd to biggest extractor. I can’t put all instructions and details on here, it would take too long. When you punch/knock out the remaining porcelain, the end WILL FALL INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD but you can get it out, it won’t fall down far into No Mans Land And Disappear. We made some punch tools and a magnet on a wire. The big body style durango hemi’s are not fun to change plugs.
Review: Broke spark plug thread, stuck in head - Life saver. Cannot recommend enough. Over torqued a 9/16” spark plug. Used the 5/16” drill. I was lucky because I had taken the plug out (after over torquing and started the shredding process) and put it back into the head when the thread separated from the plug. So I did not have to use any PB oil or what have you. The porcelain came clean off so there was no debris. Again, lucky Used scotch tape to mate the drill to the inside of the socket so they would stay together. Couple of soft taps from a rubber mallet and began to turn counter clockwise very gently with the ratchet. I could see the tool rising so I knew the thread was coming out. Ran the car for about 15 minutes before driving around. No codes and drive well.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you drive these? What kind of adapter, socket or tool fits their square ends?**
A: You could use 12-pt. sockets to turn them with (1/4"-drive or 3/8"-drive, depending on size). These extractors are imported (Taiwan), so you would need metric sockets to do that. Use a hammer to set them in the fastener first. Other possibilities are to use a tap handle from a tap-and-die set, or a small T-handle, if you have the room to turn them.

**Q: Could i get 1/4 grease fitting out?**
A: Yes, I used it to get a 1/4" NPT out.

**Q: Can it remove the threaded part of a broken spark plug stuck inside the engine?**
A: Yes you can, I did. I’m gonna write a review on these next week with pics. My plugs used a 5/8 socket to remove them. One broke, I used the 2nd to biggest extractor to get the threaded portion of the spark plug out, these square work better than the spiral.

**Q: What is the cause of breaking a car spark plug? Why does oil leak after the spark plug is opened?**
A: Plugs break if you overtighten them or allow the socket to float
By opened I'm assuming that you mean when it's removed, your valve guides are toast and are probably missing the seals and your rings are probably severely worn

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Only good for a few uses
*by M***E on August 17, 2020*

These are decent extractors. They worked better than my spiral extractors. The only problem was that they are easy to strip. I got about 5 uses out of them before the tip was bent and unusable.
