## Questions & Answers

**Q: The unit is internally fused with 4 30a fuses, for 120a. to provide 2000w at 90% efficiency will require 185a. how can this work very long?**
A: Update to my last reply. If you look in the specification manual it specifies "Input voltage range(12V)10-16VDC". So maybe they are playing games with the numbers. IF you had a battery that was 16V then 16Volts * 30Amps * 4 fuses = 1920 Watts (almost 2000 Watts) would be the input power. Still, at 90% efficiency you only could get 1728 Watts...but who has batteries that are 16Volts ????? This is "fudging the numbers" in my opinion. Rating should be for 12V input.

**Q: Can the inverter be connected directly to a solar controler "load" terminal (assuming enough amps are available) in lieu of connecting to a battery?**
A: Load terminal is not going to work, its good for lower amp 12 volt power, you need a battery bank. Stable power to the inverter, I use load for a 12 volt lighting circuit, led, low power fans, inverter for tools, small air. 500 watts of panels, 3 105 amp hour gel cells parallel in a work shed. You need to design a system.

**Q: What size wire is provided? I understand it comes double but what is the size of the individual wire?**
A: Like i answered before i belive it was 6 gage and No it doesnt come double i bought a second set...

**Q: What are the two supply cables length in inches. And what size cables? Also, Does this have pass through capability if hooked to shore power?**
A: Cables are only about 12 inches long, really short. Not sure of the wire gauge but each cable is actually 2 thin cables tied together by ring connectors on each end. Not sure about pass through capacity either.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One big, tough inverter
*by W***O on May 8, 2022*

It's still early days as I have only been able to use the inverter - generally with a 960 watt load (the Goal Zero 600W charger for Yeti 3000X) and a laptop power supply - for a few days. Installation in my 2021 Ford Transit camper van was easy. I used about 5 feet of 100% copper 2 AWG welding cable and put a 150A ANL fuse between CCP2 (Ford's 175A Consumer Connection Point on back corner of drivers seat) and the 2000W GoWise Pure Sine Wave Inverter. I ran about same length of cable to Ford's official Ground Point 25, which is under two floor covers between front seats. It all worked great. For a few days. Then it stopped working. I assumed problem was with the inverter, called them and after emailing pics of receipt and device, they sent a shipping label and I returned it, they checked it and said it is fine and sent it back to me. All free. I connected it up and still nothing despite having 14V at the cables ends. I am no kind of electrician and this was my first foray into high amp 12V DC wiring. GoWise offered to help me trouble shoot the problem - which was clearly mine - and invited me to upload a video showing my whole circuit and setup. They offered a tech time to call. Well, in preparing to shoot the video I put another load on the circuit - a 5W 12V light bulb and it didn't even glow. Nothing. The problem was a bad connection and a tensioned bend in short cable right at CCP2. I built a new, slightly longer cable between CCP2 and the ANL fuse and VOILA! The intverter powered right up and ran a 900W space heater for 5 minutes and the GZ 600W charger for about 30 minutes with the van running!!! The fans on inverter only run when it gets warm - typically with a load of over 500W. The fan noise is acceptably not quite loud - about the same as a larger microwave oven running. Slightly different tone and pitch but that's about how loud it is when the fan runs. Other wise its perfectly silent. We only use it when the van is running so the van and road noise disguises the inverter fan noise a good bit. If one expected to use loads up to the rated output of this 2000 W continuous 4000W surge inverter one should use heavier cable than 2 awg. I think 1/0 or 2/0 welding cable would be right. For my uses the 2awg should be fine. None of the cable even got warm after 30 minutes of 450W output.I am VERY happy with the patient, professional, and polite customer service I experienced with GoWise. I was convinced they were scamming me and that thing had died. But they even offered to help me trouble shot my wiring. They answered all three phone calls right away - no holds. And they responded via email for the whole return process and before they sent it back. I don't think one can expect better customer service!I would definitely buy from GoWise again. This thing is a beast! I will follow up this review after a few more adventures in van if I have any trouble with more longterm use.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awkward connections but works great
*by J***M on January 9, 2018*

Great unit. Provides good clean power. It runs quiet, I have yet to have the fans even come on (I live were the maximum temp is 24C). Installation wasn't a problem but also wasn't the smoothest.1) This is the first inverter (I'd on my fourth) that doesn't put the ground wire on the same end as the connection to the batteries. So in my off-grid home where everything is installed permanently into a closet with only a given amount of space. My power distribution box plugins into the inverter on the bottom and has the 110v runs throughout the house. For every other inverter the battery connection and the ground were on one end which I mount to the top, and the outlets on the bottom which I mount "down". This also lets the fans blow "up" to dissipate the heat since it rises. The distribution box and the inverter connect to the same ground. I had to rewire the ground since it is now on the "down" side.2) The connection to the battery are tall posts that are centered on the inverter and facing opposite directions to help make sure you don't touch the pos and neg accidentally with a dropped tool or something. Moth inverters put the two posts on opposite sides and generally the neg is on the "right" and the pos on the "left" when the outlets are facing down. This meant my positive cable which is very large an stiff was short and very difficult to connect. I had two mount the inverter at a slight angle and rewire my positive bus bar to get this to work. That took more time than it should. As far as functioning, it seems great. I have only been using a few weeks though so I can't speak to longevity.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great! Don't use supplied cable
*by H***. on March 27, 2022*

Inverter works great.. Been using it to power my 1500 watt tea kettle or 1500 watt microwave, and high velocity fan... only negative are the fairly noisy cooling fans that kick on when there's high load.. They do the job...Owned its little 600 watt brother for years and it works perfectly. Most of the negative reviews have nothing to do with the performance of the inverter. The problems people are having are most likely:Supplied cables are inadequate for a 2000 watt 12 volt inverter load. The voltage drop with the supplied is too great and the inverter will trip on low voltageBatteries being used cannot supply 2000 watts. A typical 100 Ah lithium battery or lead acid battery cannot supply 2000 watts power. Need at least 2 lithium batteries or 3 lead acid batteriesNeed 1/0 AWG cables for this job, depending on the length needed. Get help if you do not know how to size cables. Sure you might be able to get away with smaller cheaper cables.. But is it worth it?The supplied cables look like 4 AWG.. No marking on the cables and I didn't bother with them.Honestly think the company should offer proper cables separately, of different lengths.Batteries.. At 2000 watts, the battery has to supply 170 amps.. The average starter battery, or even a 100 Ah lead acid and most lithium batteries cannot supply this load and keep voltage above the inverter low voltage shutdown setpoint, 10 volts. So if you want full performance out of this inverter, buy cables sized for the job, and get at least 2 or 3 100 Ah batteries, lead acid or lithium batteries, or a smaller high performance lithium batteryNOTE: I wasn't paid to write this review, and nothing was given or offered to write this review.
