A common aspect to smart switches is they are bulkier than regular manual switches. They are not only wider but typically deeper.If you have an outlet box that has only one cable going in and another going out, you likely won't have a problem, but in one situation I had 4 cables going into the outlet box, and getting the switch back into place resulted in it pressing uncomfortably hard on those cables and the connector. In another situation (shown in the image), the outlet box sloped inward toward the back, making it impossible for the smart switch to fit all the way into the box.In both situations described, these outlet extenders were the solution, and coordinate well with the typical white color of most smart switches.

Moved into a new house and I'm replacing fixtures that are out dated. I've replaced junction boxes to ensure everythings to code, however you'll run into the junction box that is set a little too far back or they used an oversize plate instead of fixing the drywall. These extenders are amazing. They finish box nicely, you can trim them and I've just purchased for 2 and 3 gang boxes as well. The only negative...is they are a little thin, so I distorted one as I was tightening the screw, however.....that being said...they are a game changer.

These work great and are flexible adding plenty of extension. I used them after adding 2” of foam insulation to a project and they worked perfectly. They also include extra long screws and come 2 to a pack. Absolutely recommended!

Additional depth space needed after cable co. (COX) installed new larger connector and then ruined original wall plate with NON-PROFESSIONAL method of routing cable and connector and DESTROYING wall plate. This extender and new wall plate made the job PROFESSIONAL again.

Needed to purchase smaller diameter screws.

Unfortunately, the screws included are bigger than the inside diameter of the slots on the electrical box. I believe I need #6 screws and I think #8 was in the box. I wish this would have been outlined under the spec of the product unless I missed it. Now I have to go and buy additional screws.
