It is university-grade stuff, the videos and the audio tracks are good! The book does not promise zero-to-hero in 10 days or something but I think it is laying a good foundation for the long run. I am halfway through book one and I can say it gradually builds up knowledge by always adding just a little and using everything that was covered before. I highly recommend it if you can practice almost every day!Arrived to Hungary in one month with regular shipping and had some cracks and dents on the cover, but this is Amazon's fault and not the book's.

Having been interested in jazz guitar and living in Boston, some of my Berklee student friends told me of Leavitt who was one of the muses of Berklee. The main reason is that he had an answer for everything technical on guitar. No wizardry, here, just very solid systematic basics. I bought this decades later to review some of these "first principles" from one of the most respected educators in the business.

If you want to learn to read standard notation for playing guitar, look no further. A very comprehensive course. The videos and audio could use an update but they are well-done and up to Berklee standards.

Every page you accomplish playing successfully leads the beginner guitar player towards mastery of the instrument itself plus musicianship.

I actually play classical guitar but my classical teacher and I are going through this book, bought to write notes since you can buy the digital version as well.Will not fit well on small music stand since it's quite thick, need to buy a sturdy music standGreat buy
