1000 Football Shirts: Colors of the Beautiful Game Paperback – 8 April 2020

Brought for myself , very interesting

This is a book that will keep for years and years. Great pictures, strong colours and easy to read. Bought it for my 7 year old football mad nephew and it's on his bookshelf with pride. One I'm sure he'll be referring back to for years.

For us shirt devotees of what ever persuasion there have been a number of books released over the last few years, dedicated to our favourite subject, history of team colours.With the sheer size of this, the English language version- there is a Spanish version which to my cost I found first- I was really looking forward educating myself to histories and colours of the great many teams it covers from around the world. But ultimately that is its downfall, it spreads itself to thin.Why certain shirt designs through the history of bigger club and countries were chosen is very random and at same time to obvious. Of the clubs I do know something about their kit histories are littered with factual errors and why include clubs with graphics that don't include club badges or sponsors logos? Obviously permission was not given and to avoid any IP breaches the drawings are left blank. But seriously they should have been left out altogether! In their blank guise they just look awful. The graphics themselves are what has earned the book its one star, they are good, if not slightly on the darker side on occasion.To do I book like this is a huge undertaking and that is, in my opinion, where it falls down. Surely smaller more country, league or confederation targeted volumes would have been easier? I won't be using it as any type of reference book, it has frustratingly missed a trick and sadly just doesn't seem to have point to it.

This book is a must have guide for all kit fans. Many watch the game for the football but everyone can enjoy the fantastic kit designs. My only critique is there could have been even more kits.

For all those that live soccer all over the world and.for those that want to know more about club history in various countries, this is a great book.

The books is really interesting and it has tons of illustrations of various shirts from all over the world and a few decades. It covers some interesting stories that go with many of the designs and some surprisings cases which have contributed to change of rules, etc.The shirts are divided into several groups, e.g. shirts with original, creative desings / shirts from different countries / different teams / various tournaments.This was a gift for an 11-year old football fan, and he is super happy with it. With the amount of stories and shirt designs, he will have a lot of time of good fun from the book.When we looked through the book together, I have found it really interesting myself, which I didn't expect because I have little interest in football and football kit.
