Brite Star Light Tester & Bulb Remover, Black

First one came in with corroded batteries then 2nd one came in with batteries that hardly give out light - old stock most likely. Also testing for bulbs on a string does not work for me unless I'm not doing it right but there is no instructions on how to do it eg how to get contact points to connect as the plastic casing of base of light is on the way. One has to remove it which is a task as well from string of lights and then insert it on one of the tester well to see if light is out or not and by that time I've spent so much time each buib that it's not worth it.So back it goes to Amazon and they refunded me for this

I bought this to test mini-light strings when one section of the string's lights is out. I start with the first unlit bulb, hold the tester end (black end) up to it, press the red button, and if the led light comes on and stays lit, that bulb is good. By skipping along among the remaining unlit bulbs and repeating this , I can quickly find the one that's bad (the led light does not stay lit). To verify it's bad, I stick the removed bulb into the tester, which should light the bulb if it's good. Great tool for a low cost -- lowest cost one I could find on the internet. Incidentally, my order was received within three days of placing it -- great service.

The batteries in this item were dead, so once I replaced them it worked fine

While this tool has many functions and does some of them well, the task of finding that one bulb that is causing the problems in your string of lights is very time consuming. Add to that the problem may not just be the bulb, or just one bulb.I finally gave up on fixing lights and simply buy new sets. Sad to say in this disposable culture we live in but for $5.00 I can buy a whole new set of lights. Or I can spend hours trying to fix my old ones. My time is definitely worth more than $5.00 and hour.

Despite a good hour of trying, I just couldn't get it to accurately or consistently report the status of bulbs. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I followed the directions so, in any case, it's hard to use. Asked for a refund, they processed it and didn't even want the old one back. So it's going in the trash.

Works great. Would definitely buy another, if needed.

I bought this because of the bulb puller style, with the open end. I wish it wasn't retractable, but it is easy to put something in the opening to hold the puller in place. I have never been successful a using the feature which is supposed to identify which bulb is not working, I have bought several different testers for this feature, but I didn't buy it for this feature, I really just wanted the bulb puller style.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet. placed order on Jan. 4, 2012. Recieved email notification on Jan. 13, 2012 that it had just been shipped. Dont be in a hurry if you order from this company.No previous notifications that items back ordered or they just didnt have time to send it?JimAl.
