Triple EightSaver Series Pad Set with Kneesavers, Elbowsavers and Wristsavers

Sizing runs very small
So first, here’s the positive: I fell flat on my face the first time I wore these pads to go skating and they did their job. With the exception of a small bruise where the bottom of the plastic plate hit my shin, my knees, elbows, and wrists were totally safe. Now the not so great: The sizing on these pads is wack.I wear a size 16 jeans and have proportionally thick thighs. When I put the Velcro straps all the way around my legs, they cut into my thighs and calves painfully. The elbow pads are also too small. Conversely, the wrist guards are enormous and the Velcro barely connects because I have to wrap it so far around my wrists. Let’s bare in mind that I’m not much larger than the *average* size for an adult American woman and consider that Triple8 definitely has some work to do when it comes to size inclusivity. So I would say, if you’re a size 12 or under these will probably work well for you. I’ll personally be looking for a brand that fits me better since there are no larger sizes available.

Meh, don’t buy if you’re more than 20 lbs
I’m an old lady who just started up skateboarding again to teach my son the sport. In honor of not having been on a board in the last 20 years I decided I needed to gear up for the occasion. I am 5’6” and roughly 130lbs.-these do not fit snug, they are just straps that go around, whereas some of the more durable pads first have to be pulled up like a sleeve and then velro has to be tightened for a snug fit. In the event I ever fall I know for sure these will slide out of place leaving me with nasty road rash. I kept this set only for the wrist gaurds and dont bother with the rest. I will find something more along the lines of the protec that I got for my son because I put those on and feel way more protected.

Good for beginners
I purchased these when I began an adult roller derby academy about three months ago, knowing nothing about padding or the fact that more substantial pads were available and might be more appropriate. I have already retired the knee and elbow pads from this set and upgraded to the EP55 (elbow pads) and KP22 (knee pads) from Triple 8 instead. This set would be good for a true beginner who doesn't know if they want to continue with roller sports, but as soon as I realized I might be continuing with skating for a while, buying more substantial pads made sense.

Roller Derby Beginner
I just started roller derby and didn't want to spend a ton on gear. I made a good choice with this set. We've done a ton of knee slides and knee tap drills, and my knees have felt zero pain. :)

Pretty decent
These seem like good basic protective gear, which is what I was going for. I gave it 4 stars because it's not the most comfortable. But than again I am not used to wearing protective gear. It will do the job tho!

Comfortable!
I am not athletic so I have never worn protective gear before. Never kneepads, never elbow pads, etc. I have not roller skated in 20 years and I’m going back into it as an old woman LOL. I think at an older age it’s important to wear protective gear, I am really worried about my bones not being as strong. This Tripe 8 trio is great! Super comfortable! I was afraid they’d slip down and stuff but they stay put really well. Once in a while I have to pull up my kneepads but no big deal. The kneepads are a great fit, the wrist guards I got a small is a great fit and feels super protective. But the elbow pads are just too big. I can’t tighten them enough and I will probably get a child size at some point but they work and surprisingly don’t slip down. If you have small arms then you will not be able to get these as tight as you’d like but I can live with them for a while. So happy with my purchase, I hope they hold up well. I already fell twice and have a scuff on my knee pad. You would think getting back on rollerskates would be as easy it was before but the older you get you don’t have the confidence of a young person and you really do have to relearn how to skate and brake again. I also got crash shorts because I want to learn how to roller dance which will be tricky and I don’t want to brake my tailbone! My crash helmet should arrive this week, I’ll literally be covered in head to toe with protective gear.UPDATE: April 25, 2020So the elbow pads are way too big for me. Because I over tighten them I am Velcro-omg the fabric on the Velcro instead of Velcro on Velcro so the Velcro is kind of shredding the fabric part. The elbow pads actually do not stay up well unless I over tighten them so I had to buy other small elbow pads.

Awesome lightweight protective gear. Size up if you have thighs!!
Got this set of pads and the matching helmet to upgrade my current protective gear for roller skating. I started skating more and knew my first cheap set I got needed to be upgraded to keep me protected better (honestly the helmet was my biggest concern not the pads). Anyway these are lightweight (if you’re doing park skating get thicker/tougher pads) and I would also say if you have thick thighs get a large! My thighs are average/muscular and the straps for the knee pads had to do a lot more stretching than I would have expected haha. Still fit good and I would totally recommend for lightweight protective gear (not intense stuff or at the park)

Great affordable entry-level protection for outdoor roller skating
Comfortable and light, easy to put in. I am 5’4” 125lbs and the knee and elbow pads straps are way too long, but I criss-crossed them and now they work great. I use them for roller skating on sidewalks and concrete. Have fallen a few times and this protection saved my skin from road rash. Pads stuff easily but they’re just plastic, probably not meant for anything too crazy or repeat visits to the skate park. For me, they’re perfect for daily skating, will probably upgrade to studies higher quality gear when I try jumps and tricks.
