I got this to be able to use my old computers SSD as an external drive to avoid it going to waste, and am so glad I went with this product. The plug is made of a high quality feeling metal, and feels very sturdy with no risk of snapping. At first, I had horrible read/write speeds, like in the kilobytes/second range. I then formatted my drive to APFS (what modern Macs use), and lo and behold I got 500mb/second speeds. The adapter definitely works as advertised, so if you have any issues with the drive having very slow transfer speeds, verify what it is partitioned as and format it to the correct format to your operating system. Windows is NTFS or exFAT typically, and macOS is APFS or Mac OS Extended (journaled).

The JSAUX SATA to USB-C cable is excellent for connecting old hard drives! The aluminum shell construction is sturdy and the USB-C 3.1 connection gives fast transfer speeds. It recognized my 2.5" SATA drives immediately with no additional software needed. A reliable and well-built cable at a great price!

I have read a lot of these comments and it is safe to say that most people are too ignorant to read. This adapter is not for full sized SATA drives, but 2.5" drives only as described. In that capacity it works ok, just a little slow with a write/read speed of only 25-35MBps and that is on a Thunderbolt4 port. Of course it does not fit a standard USB-port as it is for USB-C not USB-A. Another peace of information many overlook or simply just ignore. Can't blame the item for the users short coming, can't 'ya? Just my two cents

EDIT: exchanged the old one and the new one works perfectly. Plug-and-play, no drivers to install on Windows. Used to clone an old 1TB laptop HDD to a new SSD. Cloned the whole drive first try without issues. BEFORE EXCHANGE: Windows does not recognize the device, which makes it completely unusable. Usually when this happens, there is a driver that must be installed. However, there is no driver available for download for this device, so I can only assume it's faulty. Tested on two different PC's, one Windows 10 and the other Windows 11, with the same error.
