## Questions & Answers

**Q: How well does this lens fit over prescription glassses?**
A: The design uses standard lens holder with different welding shade levels.  The shade is protected by clear glass and magnifier.  My thought is that it would work with prescription glasses.

**Q: Is it possible to switch the lenses on these glasses to #14?  And if so, do you sell #14 inserts?**
A: The short answer is (a) yes and (b) I don't know. The size and configuration of these goggles is pretty standard; e.g., I switched to a shade 4 and added a magnifier lens for close-in, gas welding. I would probably want a full helmet and additional skin protection for anything requiring a shade higher than 8 myself but McMaster-Carr has a full selection that will fit these goggles, from shade 3 to 12 in fixed lens and from 9 to 13 in an auto shade. Don't know what Amazon or Hobart offers.

**Q: Query are for soldering And what number of glass are they ???**
A: If you are doing a lot of low temperature soldering (tin/silver, lead/tin, tin/antimony solder) with propane, butane or acetylene without an oxygen line then ANSI approved safety glasses with a shade 2 is sufficient.  Shade 3 will also obviously work, but you will need extra bright light in your work area to see the solder flow.  Don't use just regular dark tinted safety glasses - they are not rated to block infrared radiation. Many people just use clear safety glasses for soldering, but there is some UV and infrared radiation from the flame and if you do years of regular soldering without an ANSI tinted lense, it could cause eye damage.
