These things make for really good cosplay goggles, but there's a rather large visible gap where the chain connects the two eyepieces together, which means that if you were to wear this while welding, there's a great possibility that you might end up flash-burning a part of your retina. It could probably be fixed with some electrical tape but that doesn't feel like a very reliable solution.

All the reviews I read before ordering these goggles were from people that bought them to use as a part of a costume. I bought these to use for their intended purpose, cutting and welding. I recently set up my shop and have a covered area where I weld. Being outside creates weird issues with the sun shining around the edges of flip-up style cutting goggles (and around the edges of a welding hood, too.) These goggles eliminate the problem. They fit closely against my face and easily adjusted to stay snug. In all they have made it easier to see what I'm doing even as I move around in and out of the direct sunlight. Welding goggles should be hassle free so that you wear them and these are about as close as I've found.

Like many a few have said already, these goggles are very uncomfortable to wear for more than a minute. If you got these for cosplay, you'd better return them for something else. If you got these for welding, perhaps you ought to return them for something else.I took a bit of felt and glued scraps to the sides that would otherwise be pushing hard into your face, and it seemed to do the trick. I don't think any kind of eye-wear should need that kind of cushioning to work though, and that's why I gave it two stars. There is hope, because I worked on it.The lens are fine, and don't pop out very easily. They are darkened to protect your eyes from the blinding bright light of a torch flame, and as such, you might find it difficult to see when you're not welding. But that is its intended purpose, so you really can't fault it for doing its job.In the middle, there's an adjusting tube that I haven't quite figured out yet. It is meant to extend the width of your goggles, or bring them closer together, but mine just may be stuck at the furthest setting.Bottom line, these were cheap, and with most economy items, you'll find them uncomfortable and not worth holding onto.

These goggles are well made and a good basis for making steampunk goggles. they use standard 50mm lenses so you can get replacements in whatever color you choose. They have no padding around the bodies of the goggles, but lets be honest, most people using these for costuming will not be wearing them 99% of the time anyway. While they do have a vent on either side of the goggles they do appear to steam up pretty easily so if they are to be worn a few vents on the top edges may be in order.

The first day I got these Forney 55311 Goggles - they fell apart to pieces and crumbled in a crazy pile of parts that I have no interest in wasting my time on to figure out how to reassemble. Also the nose piece hurts your nose. They look cool though. Maybe just buy a set to preserve in a museum or something because these babies are fragile and should be handled carefully.Hope you enjoy my money Forney -- my garbage men already picked up your product. Great pair of goggles. Shockingly comfortable. I had two people express interest in buying a pair as soon as they saw me wearing them at work. The vents perform well at dealing with fogging. A couple co-workers even mentioned the steampunk angle, though I'm using them for work, so cos-players should be happy, too.

I love these goggles. They are highly adjustable and very comfortable. I havent had any trouble with fogging. I use them for plasma cutting and Oxy Acetylene cutting. They also look great and give you a mad scientist look. My son loves them too!

I was looking for these around goggle types for using a torch couldn't find them anywhere or they were stupidly expensive these were great with shade 5 used for oxy-acetylene torches great job
