Alex: An amazing life
Alex Liberman has a sculpture installation at the Milwaukee Art Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is white and entitled "Argo" and provides its outdoor setting a striking view through windows in the galleria of the Calatrava museum structure. Therefore, this book would give background about the artist for my Docent tours. However, Alex had a life through Russia, France, to the United States that eventually allowed him an amazing career as a magazine editor for Harpers and other Conde Nast publications. His father provided the Russia governments with work as a skilled lumber contractor who estimated huge stands of timber throughout Europe. He specifically worked with old and new governments in Russia and became extremely successful. His mother provided an exotic life of arty performance, style, and interesting romantic attachments that filled her days with lively engagements. The past and the parents were important to his development as a person.Alex was educated in English boarding schools and also French schools. His school connections allowed him to gain wonderful social skills and introductions to wealthy continental families. As he grew, the love of his life, Tatiana, gave him a passion for care giving to her imperial Russian taste and style.Alex settled in NYC and worked in magazine publications as an editor and art director. He was involved with so many influential people in his business but also developed his own private art skills as well. What an entertaining read!
