Ideal Security Door Lever with Deadbolt Lock for Storm and Screen Doors, Oil Rubbed Bronze (4-Piece Set)

This was a replacement for a mostly identical set where the spring in our latch finally broke. Easy replacement but for someone installing on a new door or replacing a different set, I can see how this set could be a little difficult. We were lucky and able to keep the strike plates for both deadbolt and latch without replacing them. You can tell they are cutting costs by providing only one deadbolt spindle in the package that you need to saw off to the correct size (we were able to keep the original one thankfully). Also, the strike plate for the latch is now made of plastic when our original was metal, although it is thick plastic and appears to be sturdy. They could of included several size spindles for the deadbolt like they do with the latch instead of making you cut the metal (not everyone has the tools necessary for this). Overall good quality and easy install, however we were replacing a similar set up on a standard size storm door so it made it a lot less painful.

Good price, and only had to drill holes for new strike location.. I’m glad it was offered for sale. it replaced hardware on Larson door that is prob 25 yrs old.The handle grip is hollow on the backside, and feels a little weird at first.I could not use the inner piece of the deadbolt due the strike depth. My old deadbolt mated to the new outer piece, which surprised me. By doing this, i was able to keep the old strike location for the deadbolt.It comes with several different lengths of hardware for various door thicknesses.I did not give it a 5 due to the deadbolt issue, it does not totally cover the old hardware shadow.

Where to start. Now that its as completed as it can be for now, it looks pretty good. I had to use all of the thickness pieces provided, and could have used one more. I also had to assemble and disassemble several times In the end, my deadbolt functions from inside (barely) but I can't use the key. I don't own any tools that can cut the spindle, and I'm not going to go buy extra tools for that. So I will settle with partial function. Would have been nice for them to include different sized spindles for deadbolt, like they did with the handle. Oh well, in the end, it looks good, and has basic function, even if not all I was hoping for.

It’s a nice door handle and deadbolt. I like the fit and finish. What I don’t care for is the plastic door catch. Seems like the first fail point. But the deadbolt cup is metal. All the parts were there however it was already opened and the axle that goes between the key cyl and the deadbolt mechanism was already cut short, luckily I was able to make it work by adjusting the thickness where the deadbolt was attached.

This handle and lock took way longer than I anticipated to install. This handle is designed to work on a 1 inch thick door at the minimum. My door was about 3/4 inch thick, so I had to hacksaw about 1/4 inch off the smallest bolt and 2 screws for the handle to fit properly. The deadbolt itself required the use of 2 layers of the included plastic plates to raise it up enough to line up correctly. The included latches did not stick out far enough to catch, luckily I had some old latches that worked. I would have given 5 stars if the included latches had worked and if I hadn't have needed to shorten the bolt and screws.Pros: Looks stylish; quality construction; unlockable/lockable with the provided keyCon: Does not fit all doors widths. Pain to install for this reason.

I moved into my house a few years ago and the front storm door had a handle and deadbolt set very similar to this product, but clearly much older. I never got the key for that deadbolt but I've always wished that I did. Well, as luck would have it, a few weeks go I went to enter my home and the handle snapped right off! I had no choice now but to buy a new handle/deadbolt set to replace. This new set was perfect! All holes matched right up, and I was able to use the existing deadbolt metal piece instead of cutting the one that came with this new set. 5 stars!

This is beautiful, very solid handle. It came with many parts and pieces to fit to many size doors. It took some work to get it just right on my first adjustment. Then I decided to look at the original piece to see what size extender I would need for the next part, that was soooo helpful, it also let me see what screw I would need before installing it. My advice would be pay attention to the old one as you remove it and refer to it when deciding what size you need it to be to lock properly.

Bought this to replace old hardware. It almost fit perfectly, but did require some tweaking to work (I'd love to tell you what type of door I have, but I haven't been able to determine that). I did find their printed instructions a little unclear, and had a couple of false starts before I worked it out correctly (not all related to the mismatch on my door). I must say though, I really like it now that it is installed, and the price was right.
