good information
very helpful to read on the chickens you are looking into getting. My daughter even enjoyed it because of how well the photos are with information.

Well Worth The Price
As a new backyard/pet chicken (and one gosling) keeper, I've found plenty of info to help me make my breed choice for baby chicks. Lots of excellent pictures. As another reviewer said it doesn't have a whole lot of info on ducks, turkey and goose breeds but enough to be helpful to me. I was a bit hesitant to order it in the paperback format but happily it's large, measuring 11" x 8 1/2 wide with high quality paper. It's a pure breed book so doesn't have anything on "mutt" breeds like the popular Easter Egger which lays blue and/or green eggs but like any mutt, it's probably impossible to be specific about most traits. I wondered what would be the best book for me as a beginner and this is it! I think more experienced chicken custodians would enjoy it too.

Informative book
Pictures and descriptions are great but a number of breeds are missing. I did enjoy looking through it.

Not all chickens listed just commercially raised.
Liked it but it is not the complete list I expected.

Liaded with information
I have 10 hens, all of different breeds. I now know what my old bantam hen is along with my Astralorps. Lots of great pictures to help out.

Basic
I enjoy reading this! It does have pictures but it has doesn’t have that many breeds in it. However I’d does give some cool information about each chicken:duck/turkey breed and how it originated. Honesty could get this information free online.

Great Gift for Backyard Chicken Fans
I am a Backyard Chickens fan like many of you. Good book, but I got it for my mom. She love's chickens more than me and with her aging eyesight, she really enjoyed this book. Makes a great gift. Do recommend. (I want to get one for myself). BYC
