Main feature: The Story Of The HMS Coventry In The Falklands War Based on the book Four Weeks in May By David Hart Dyke HMS Coventry brought down more aircraft than any other ship during the Falklands War. As other British ships sank around them, Coventry believed they were invincible. But at the height of the conflict, Coventry was sent on a suicide mission - to lure enemy bombers away from the troops landing in San Carlos Bay. The Argentineans duly obliged by sending waves of Skyhawks to take out the British Destroyer. By late afternoon on May 25th 1982, Coventry had already survived two raids and shot down three enemy planes. But just as Captain Hart Dyke and his crew thought they had weathered the storm, the Argentineans launched one last attack... For the first time in 25 years the men of HMS Coventry tell their dramatic story. Bonus Features: Carrier Air Defence. Part of Naval History.
This is a great DVD and gives a little insight into the Royal Navy`s role in the Falklands War.I have seen many DVD`s about the land war and I have a great deal of respect to all of the men who fought their way across the island. However as ex-Royal Navy myself it is good the see the war from the Navy`s perspective and to get some idea what the men went through.I recommend this DVD highly as you have different views of the conflict from the Captain of HMS Coventry down to the junior rates.

A must-buy.
Just Brilliant.Until I saw this film I did not have an appreciation of how pivotal a part the Royal Navy plays in our defence. The action is very realistic and you are transported into the heart ot the battle;to 1982.The Captain and his crew are heroic and the sacrifice made by our armed forces must never be forgotten.

Accurate, informative and engaging.
An excellent true life story of fear and courage, and a fitting tribute to the brave sailors of one of Her Majesty's ships who risked everything doing their duty.

A very good insight into how modern day warfare is fought
A very good insight into how modern day warfare is fought. Sad to see how a proud ship met its end in such a rapid manner.

What about HMS Broadswords contribution?
Whilst this does indeed give a very good insight into what it is like on a warship during a major conflict, and in particular how it affected the crew of HMS Coventry, I am a little bemused at the lack of information regarding the involvement of HMS Broadsword, who was with the Coventry throughout the events. At the time I was serving as a Radio Operator on the Broadsword, which was itself hit by a 1000 pound bomb, although ours passed through the side of the ship, out through the flight deck, wrecking our helicopter, but thankfully did not explode. We were then engaged in helping to rescue the crew, deploying our sea boats to help pick up survivors, our Gemini dinghy also spent a lot of it's time pulling the Coventry's life rafts away from the sinking ship so they didn't get "sucked" down with her. That day we dealt with around 170 of the Coventry's crew on the Broadsword, many badly wounded, while remaining ready for further attacks and dealing with some major damage to our own ship. The loss of the Coventry and nineteen of her crew was indeed a tragedy, but I feel very proud of the actions of the Broadsword crew that day, it is just a shame our involvement was not given a little more coverage in this account.

Best Falklands Documentary
One of the best documentaries I have seen. A wonderful combination of reenactments, interviews, and period film footage tells the riveting story of HMS Coventry. A fine tribute to this great ship and its crew.
