A Breguet Museum Inside A Beautiful Book
2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the watch company Breguet founded. With the rare ability to excel at art, commerce, math, and science, many consider him to be the greatest watchmaker of all time. This book gives a great overview of Breguet, his inventions, business associations, and a nice gallery of many of his timepieces, which is like walking through a museum.I would like to see some of the modern watches the company produces, but this is a wonderful book nonetheless.

VG book about the designers and artwork involved with Pocket Watch making
Breguet was one of the most influential designers in the field of Pocket Watch making and the artwork involved with Pocket Watch design. Great book if you are into pocket watches and/or artwork from an engineering perspective.

More of a coffee table book than a definitive work but still worth the money
As a Breguet admirer I knew before buying it that this was not a definitive work on the life of Abraham Louis Breguet, for that you’d need the George Daniels book, so my expectations were of lots of nice colour photos and on that front it absolutely delivers. It’s actually more an exhibition catalog than a proper reference work. Recommended for anyone that has an interest in ALB’s work.

Great history of Breguet & very well illustrated & documented
Beautifully illustrated, well written text.Had the pleasure of seeing the exhibit in SF. Glad I have the book to refer back to again & again.Actually bought a second time. Couldn't find it in our house, got panicked & bought a second. Of course I immediately found the first, but hope that shows how good of a book it is.

Doesn't cover modern watches
Nice book. But I should have paid closer attention. It's not about the present 20th C lineup of Breguet wrist watches in the last few decades. It's a companion book to a former art gallery exhibition of pocket watches and small travel clocks neither of which serious watch guys want or find interesting. Generally absent are technical horology details concerning movements and dials. Somehow it's a complete waste of time for me, other than pretty pictures while I take a morning coffee and croissant. Then it's over not to be looked at again. If all you want is that, then this is okay. However, I am under strict orders for no more picture books on shelves unless the plan is to really use them more than once a decade. If you saw the exhibit and wanted a keepsake, then this is cool. Pretty book to browse for 15 minutes, as well. I'm merely disappointed on topics covered. I couldn't care less, for example, about Turkish pocket watches nor fine historical 19th C examples of their decoration. On the other hand, I would like to see an exploded view of a man's classique 5177, a 3130, and a type XX, with all the dial options, sizes, and other notes. Admittedly possibly a childish choice because the resale would be truly horrible, one of my grail watches would be a 5717. I just like it. But, not enough for the 50k + price. These are the Breguet items people want to see in a book, not pocket watches.
