The Swiss flag as delivered is for maritime use as it is rectangular. Swiss legislation describes the official flag for use on land e.g. real estate, government buildings as square, for maritime use as rectangular. The Swiss flag is one the few what are square an other example is the flage of State of the Vatican.For this reason I'm not so happy because I bought the Swiss Flag as gift for display on my daughters house as she is Swiss and lives in Florida.As always the quality of the fabric, the printing and sewing from Annin is excellent. I display flags from Annin on my boat e.g. as national flag or courtesy flags and my experience is that they hold much longer as flags from other brands I bought before.

The fundamental flaw with this, and most other Swiss flags offered on the Internet, is that Switzerland has a square flag, the only country in the world that does (unless one counts the Vatican as a country). All of the non-Swiss manufacturers seem to fit a Swiss graphic on their standard rectangular template.Imagine the U.S. or other flag imprinted on a square piece of cloth. It would look just as wrong.
