Norpro 4-Cup Capacity Plastic Measuring Cup, Multicolor

I needed a new smaller measuring cup. This one works great. Nice size plus more cup measurements than my old one.

We use this every single day. We use it to mix and measure my daughter's tube feeding formula, so it's important to me that the measurements are correct. They are almost perfect. There's a tiny discrepancy toward the top, but I think that's mostly because it's plastic, so it bends imperfectly. We have been using (and washing!) this daily for about 6 months, and the print is just now starting to fade in a couple small spots. If it was used as a regular measuring cup, it would probably hold up a lot longer. I'll probably keep it and write the lines on with a sharpie when it gets bad.

I've been using the 8 oz versions of these cups for over a decade. Much lighter than glass cups, sturdier--won't break if you drop them, easy to read markings, wide enough to make them easy to clean with a sponge, but not squat, which would take up too much space & make it difficult to precisely measure out volumes. The handle is comfortable to grip; the spout is just right; these make pouring easy. The plastic is food safe & not damaged by vinegar, etc. (They're reportedly ok for microwaving & dishwasher safe, too, but I personally would stick to approved glass cups for those uses.)

I bought this without noticing the review warning against incorrect markings for measurement. That review is from 2012, so apparently the company has either corrected the problem or there was simply a bad batch manufactured at that time. I repeated the "test" below: 1. Fill to 700 ml 2. Pour liquid into another container until the measuring cup shows 500 ml left 3. Empty the measuring cup 4. Pour back the 200 ml reserved in the other container and see what the measuring cup shows. Guess what? It shows 200 ml as it should. I also tested at other levels of the cup and it was correct each time. So, the original problem seems no longer to be in effect. I like the 4-cup size because my recipes often call for more than 2 cups (which is all my glass measuring cup will hold). The plastic keeps it light even when full of liquid. I took off a star because I notice some lettering starting to fade after a lot of turns in the dishwasher, so I don't think this will be long-lasting. UPDATE: I neglected to explain clearly in my original review that I have also compared this item to one of my old glass Pyrex measuring cups. Pouring 1-2 cups from the glass one to this plastic one---matches perfectly to the lines; adding another 1-2 cups from the glass to the plastic cup confirms the last markings as well. So mine is accurate enough, and although there has been some fading it's still readable after almost 3 years (photo below).

I ordered this measuring cup specifically to measure muriatic acid for pool maintenance, and it works perfectly for that purpose. The cup is sturdy, the measurements are easy to read, and the handle feels secure even when pouring liquids carefully. The plastic has held up well so far with chemical use, and the pour spout helps reduce splashing and spills, which is important when handling acid. I also like the multicolor design because it makes it easy to keep this cup separate from kitchen use. Overall, this is a simple, reliable measuring cup that does exactly what it should. Great value and well-suited for utility and maintenance tasks.

I specifically wanted this one. It is microwave safe- I reheat my hot tea & steep spices into my tea- the handle stays cool. And it has a pour spout. It is dishwasher safe. It is exactly what I wanted. Super useful. It also has clear measurements if I decide that I need something measured. ( I drink hot tea daily - brew it & let it steep in my insulated mug, but as I want mine very strong, it steeps a long while, getting cold. This is the best reheating solution I’ve found. Plus it’s safe if I drop it when I’m sleepy.

Markings did not survive being used for scooping dog food 2x a day, almost completely worn off after one year. Other than that the scoop is still in good condition. Wouldn’t recommend for frequent use.
