Open Mesh Access point MR1750

The perfect access point IMHO
I own 3 of these wonderful Access points now. It's been more than 15 years I try to get the ideal Wifi coverage in my houses. I bought almost all brands, including Ruckuss (professional grade access point)Can believe me, quality of the signal is just a very little bit under a Ruckuss R600 and bandwidth is far much better. (I download regularly above 15Mo/s with this Wifi in AC) The roaming is just ... Wonderful! Skype conversation through my house is now always possible for the first time in my life.Remains Cloudtrax portal, which is a breath to use. automatic updates are perfect. I have suggested to add the ability to deactivate all LED coze they are very bright. it can be annoying during night if the Access Point is in your room for Eg.For sensible professional usage, I don't know if cloudtrax is secured enough. If someone from Open-mesh can contact me, I would be more than pleased to discuss this point with him/her. I could push my company (lot's of warehouses) to use these AP instead of crazy Expensive Ruckuss + Controller + licence, we use now (And we use more than 600 Access points for now in South East Asia)Thanks for this device, it is just the perfect Access point in my opinion.Stephan

Unreliable
Decided to give this a shot since it is about half the price of a Meraki MR18 or Aerohive 130, which I'm currently evaluating for a multiple site WiFi rollout.Nice interface and very easy to set up, but unfortunately, our MR1750 kept losing Internet connectivity several time a day and could only be brought back by power cycling, so I will have to give it one star, as this is not ideal in any environment, no matter how easy it is to set up and manage.

High Hopes Dashed Today
1 year and 5 months I have had this. I am using this at my home as a test before allowing customers to use it. I really liked the interface. I like it better than Ubiquiti.Today the 802.11AC went out. This morning I was only having trouble with a laptop that was running on AC. Eventually got it working by running the laptop WiFi in A/B mode. Honestly thought at first it was the laptop WiFi. Then later on I was having some strange behavior. So I finally decided I may as well try the BETA firmware. It appeared to be working however it was not stable on AC. Internet connectivity would come and go. After playing around with the settings I finally threw in the towel as this unit is just outside of warranty and I refuse to buy another one.The Ubiquiti units I have placed with similar specifications have always blown this out of the water. I truly had high hopes for it due to the CloudTrax Web Interface. At this point that is all I can say that is great about this product.Early on I fought b/g issues and that was corrected eventually with a firmware release however I have had to power cycle this device at least 5 times since I installed it.I haven't had to do this much with every other WiFi I have running at customer sites.Honestly I'm willing to give Open-Mesh another chance in the future if they can resolve reliability issues. The truth is every manufacturer has experienced this which is why I may give them another chance on a future product. The 1 year warranty is too short in my opinion, especially considering it is nearly double the price as the UniFi Pro AC which also has a 1 year warranty. Also the UniFi comes with it's own injector. Both the Ubiquiti and OpenMesh are attractive options due to their price points. If you choose to buy this just understand you may need to replace some hardware down the road. If you are planning a large mesh network this may still be a decent option.Last item to note is this device did get pretty darn warm. So try to place it in as cool as a place as possible as there are not cooling fans in the unit.

Excellent product 5 star performance...ships useless with no power adapter for use
This product we used to replace/upgrade another openmesh (older) that was having issues. This has been amazing thus far, my only minus is they ship a product with no power supply, but as for performance 5 star...top notch.

Love these and highly recommend
Ordered the MR1750 along with 2 of the OM5P-AC WAPs to upgrade the wireless in my house from 6 year old Airport and Airport Extreme. Its a 2 story colonial and I was having issues getting good signal throughout the house and at the pool. Installation was very easy. I did a bunch of research and decided on the Open-Mesh systems. Along with the intelligent setup and configuration I love the flexibility with all of the mounting options they have available, for a cost of course, along with being able to power them with POE. One of the OM5P-ACs is wired directly to my hub in my office, one is wirelessly meshed in our bedroom on the 2nd floor (the connection speed is halved since its an additional hop) and the MR1750 is connected via POE from the living room to the office hub. I now have signal throughout the house, in my garage, at the pool and throughout my yard. The CloudTrax setup was simple and I do like getting alerts if one of them is unavailable for whatever reason (like losing power) and having the ability to configure them remotely via CloudTrax. The one negative with these is the limited options for configuring them. I'm used to using OpenWRT on a Buffalo router which was connected between my Airports and the cable modem. This allowed me to use VPN and some other options with my connection. Since these don't have any really advanced options I'm still using the Buffalo router between these and my cable modem to setup my VPN connection. For most user this won't be an issue but just be aware.I love the ability to be able to add more down the road. Overall I couldn't be happier and definitely recommend them especially for those that don't want to jump through hoops to configure and use multiple access points throughout a large home or space.
