The Freud04-096 Double Flute Straight Bit is engineered for precision and durability, featuring a 1/16" diameter and a 1/4" shank. With its advanced Black I.C.E. coating and TiCo Hi-Density Carbide, this bit offers superior chip evacuation and twice the lifespan compared to standard bits, making it an essential tool for any professional woodworker.

Solid for the diameter
These work well and provide a narrow cut. At a 1/16" diameter you don't want to force it.

Excellent Crokinole Game Board Lines
I purchased this bit to route the lines in my Crokinole boards. It works almost perfectly.Previously I had been using a V-Groove bit set at a shallow depth that worked ok except I would get varying widths of the lines due to small sawdust buildup under the router that would raise the router ever so slightly resulting in less depth of cut translating to thinner lines in some places and thicker in others. Also the V-Groove bit tended to have a bit more tearout than these straight bits on the cross grain sections of the boards. With this 1/16" straight bit I do get varying depths still but the line width is constant now. I fill these grooves in with contrasting colored putty anyway so the slight depth decrease doesnt matter to me.I have not tried to route anything more than 3/32" deep so I have no idea if the tip will hold up at deeper cuts. Now if only someone would make a 1/16" spiral downcut bit to eliminate the remaining little bit of cross grain tearout I would be a happy guy.See bremist.com for pics of the boards and the corresponding lines that these bits cut.

Use in CNC machine
I've never bought an expensive one so I don't really have anything to compare with, but I use this a lot, weekly or even multiple times a week. I just bought my 3rd one (haven't actually opened it yet), after about 2 1/2 years. My last one did break, but it's a super small bit that was getting dull and running a program that takes hours to cut so I don't really blame the bit. Will likely buy more as I use it a lot.

Adequate bit
Gets the job done for a fraction of the cost

Very useful bit, just don't break it
This is a very useful bit for some tiny clean ups. I also use it to route a line between plywood and hardwood edge banding to give it a crisp line between the two rather than having to risk oversanding and damage the plywood. However this is a very lean bit (well it's 1/16") and if you are not careful placing your router after usage, you can easily break the bit head if it hits anything at all. I broke mine this way and had to buy another one.

Very thin bit
Needed this bit for a project I was building. Came in set of two. Need to run slowly and make multiple passes, but it worked very well.

Worked great, and cuts perfectly.
Received the bit and wasted no time putting it through its paces on my MPCNC.I am using a DeWalt 660 as a spindle and tested with a super conservative 8MM/s since I didn't want to snap the 1/16" version I bought. If I had to use one word it would be WWWWOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!Not only did it cut cleanly, it didn't flinch. I am sure I can up the feed rate next time I use it but for now it was money very well spent. This is my first Freud bit as I usually buy Amana but they don't have a 1/16". Freud might have just won themselves a new customer and keep up the great work!P.s. the packaging didn't try to kill me so I considered it 5 star worthy. :)

The quality continues to go down
When I first started buying these 2.5 years ago, they’d last for months. Now I’m to the point that the big is snapping literally the very first pass on soft wood. I’m going to have another brand

Very sharp high end bits, made in Italy
The quality of this brand deserves its reputation. Very sharp ... and stays sharp. I thought the usual bits at everyone's favourite Canadian general store were decent, but these are immediately and noticeably sharper and better quality. Why? I suspect the quality of the steel is far superior in Freud bits and as most things in life, you get what you pay for.

High Quality
This is the same one I've purchased locally but at a much more realistic price! same quality no compromise. The bit broke when I hit a feed rate just over 250" min! That's pretty darn good!

Broke instantly
Had it set to a 1/16th in depth and it still broke as soon as it made contact with the wood. (Walnut) Have used one of these bits before with good results but this was a major let down.

disappointing
order 2 of these cutter previously and stood up great, these two didn't last even a 10% of the time. Ordered 3 more and we will see. used on same material at the same feed and speed.

Weak bit
Bought 2 and both broke at 2 different RPM on PINE of all woods
