A Boon to Asthmatics
As a sufferer of extreme asthma, as someone who can't walk down the street for fear that a clerk on a smoke break, concealed behind some pillar or window-box shrub, will cause me to hyperventilate periodically for up to a week post-encounter, this mask has turned my life around. Sure, it takes a bit of getting used to, walking flamboyantly down the street like Modern Joe, and sure, people stop me to applaud my commitment to cosplay (which has so far, always been sincere, and highly amusing), but it has been the single greatest boon to my respiratory health and peace of mind in the course of my life. It has opened up avenues for travel - I can now go to countries where smoking is very prevalent, so long as I enter nonsmoking indoor establishments for lodging/eating/etc. and even though one certainly isn't anonymous or subtle with this accessory, the functionality (safely breathing, anywhere) is unbeatable. A bit of odor does come through the mask, from time to time. I know when someone is smoking nearby, because I can smell it through the mask. However, it's an odd scent, quite distinguishable from the unmasked, unfiltered odor of smoked tobacco. It's not a pleasant scent, but it is a breathable one, nonetheless. The only time the odor through the mask was very strong was in the case of painting with aerosol. I couldn't distinguish between the filtered and unfiltered odor of spraypaint. Nonetheless, I had no breathing issues during or afterward, so I suppose the mask did its job. In terms of fit - everyone's face is different, sure, but I can vouch for the fit on my face at least. I ordered the large/medium, though the small/medium was tempting. I'm a fairly petite girl with a narrow, oval face and this size fits me quite well, leaving no gaps. It sometimes pops a little when I'm breathing heavily - I'm not sure what causes that, but it doesn't seem to be letting air through when this happens, so it's more distracting than problematic. I've done some aerobics in this mask before, and the passage of air is sufficient to allow me to comfortably breathe, even when my respiration is fairly accelerated. When hyperventilating on a cold clear day, this mask has helped normalize my breathing - I believe this is because it heats up and moistens the air somewhat? But I'm not sure if that's the case. I live in a cold climate. Not sure if this would be bearable in the desert - or in a particularly warm climate. The airflow is sufficient to keep it from getting muggy and sweaty during a Pacific Northwest summer, but things might get uncomfortable if it were any warmer. That said, this mask is by far the best option I've found to date. Haven't replaced the filters yet - so I can't say whether or not that's a turnkey process. Lost the first mask, and had to buy a replacement. Both were top notch quality and equally functional.

Fits under welding helmet nicely
Needed this for welding and it fit tight but nice n snug under my arc captain welding helmet . I also wear glasses and was able to get everything on and weld without any issues and no fogging in my glasses and helmet lenses. Works perfect

Low profile, light weight dust mask. Looks cool too!
What a great looking dust mask! While cobalt blue would be a nice option in place of the purple, the purple looks really nice. I am an average size man with an average size face. I wear glasses, and this does not interfere with them. Also, unlike a few other reviewers, I have not really had trouble with fogging of my glasses. I had fog 1 time when I was working at an odd angle, but other than that I have been fog free for well over 10 hours of use. This mask is quite light weight. When wearing it, it does not feel like it's hanging off your face. It feels like it's part of your face. The double strap makes the mask secure but not too tight. I really like how small it is. A lot of the respirators I see look like they were styled after a WWII gas mask, big and bulky with canisters hanging off both sides. This one is compact, and low profile. I also have a beard, and read that some people have problems getting this to seal around their beard. I keep my beard pretty short, but it's a full beard, and if I cover the exhaust vent, there is pressure when I breathe out. It does leak, a little, but I have not had issue with dust getting in. I do smell wood when I'm cutting so the filters that come with it are not meant to be used as a gas mask, only a particle filter. There are some things that are not ideal. I have little experience with respirators, but I still have opinions, so here they are: 1. The bridge of my nose gets a little uncomfortable after a half hour or so. I find that moving it down my nose helps a bit. 2. The flap the lets air out makes a little flappy sound when you exhale... I know this is nit picky, but it's a little annoying. I would assume that most respirators with a flap do the same. 3. It gets pretty warm on a hot day. Again, I'm guessing that any respirator out there will do the same thing. I have not yet decided if I will buy another when this one wears out... But that may be a while, so in the mean time, I recommend trying this mask. I deducted a star mostly because of the nose junction being uncomfortable for me. The other 2 negatives are just to make you aware of my negative thoughts on this product.

Its like an automotive engine air filter, for your face!
I needed this mask in a pinch and Amazon delivered like a boss. This thing fits my man face and seals well, provided I'm clean shaven. Its comfortable enough to wear for many hours at a stretch and the straps provide plenty of adjustment range, fits well with safety glasses, and is low profile enough to fit comfortably behind a face shield. I also ordered some additional P100 filters to go with it. These work great for dirty automotive tasks like brake dust from brake jobs, sanding wood in the shop, grinding metal, or dust from a leaf blower. I eventually gave it to my mom and purchased a 3M mask for a different purpose, but this one worked great while I owned it. I TRUSTED IT ENOUGH TO GIVE IT TO MY MOTHER Y'ALL. What these do NOT protect against are things like SMOKE or CHEMICAL VAPORS. If you are out there Breaking Bad, this stylish purple mask and provided filters ain't gonna help. I see a ton of people here on Amazon buying these things and plowing into fire zones during the recent California wildfires and they assume the mask is going to protect them. Now please keep in mind that there are many different ratings for replacement cartridges on this mask, the ones that are included are P100 only. What does that mean? P100 is a particulate rating that covers physical pieces matter, the elements in this filter will block 99.9% of particles .3 microns or larger. It will protect you from the big chunks of crap floating around in the air, but 90% of wood smoke particles range from 1 micron to 0.01 microns, depending on what's burning. It's not the physical particles of smoke that are going to ruin you, its the soup of highly toxic and carcinogenic gasses that are given off by burning plastics and modern building materials. Lovely things like phosgene and hydrogen cyanide, not to mention the tons upon tons of carbon monoxide. Be smart and understand the limitations of your safety gear and you'll live a much longer and healthier life.

unparalleled versatility and function
i have been using the GVS SPR457 Elipse P100 Half Mask Respirator for about 2 months now. I am a welder and i also have asthma. i work in small shop making safes, welding for 8 hours a day 7 days a week can really put a toll on your body. you are constantly breathing in toxic fumes that you can clearly see the side effects of at the end of the day ie. black mucus in my nostrils and throat. this respirator worked perfectly for me because i needed something small and compact enough to fit under my welding hood but efficient enough to actually be worth wearing. i am constantly moving around going inside safes (some of which only my head fits) and i rarely even realize that i am wearing this respirator. it fits snug of your face and it is super comfortable. the respirator is never obtrusive and if need be easily removable with only one hand, you can pull the top strap and let it hang around your neck until it is needed again. best of all my sinuses are clean and clear and under control pros: lightweight yet durable easy to put on and remove does not restrict breathing easy to clean and change filters compact design gives it great versatility cons: on cold days or if working hard moisture can build up on inside requiring you to wipe it away straps do tend to get loose after a while, just make sure they are tight your voice will get muffled especially in loud environments requiring you to pull on mask to be heard properly overall the versatility of the GVS SPR457 Elipse P100 Half Mask Respirator is unparalleled whether you need it for light duty home work or for more demanding daily work it will fit your needs. there to protect you when you need it and out of the way when you don't.

Works great at filtering gun smoke particulates.
Seems to work EXTREMELY well! I use mine mainly for indoor ranges where there is a lot of gunfire and gun smoke. Even in well ventilated areas, because it's indoors, the gun smoke will cause you to have breathing issues (even if only minor). On heavy fire days, I'm going through several hundred rounds an hour on my lane, and using this while firing helps me feel way more confident in my ability to engage my weapons as it does not hamper my accuracy, so imagine how well I feel outdoors with or without this.

Great mask
This has been a great buy !! I needed a good respirator to wear in the wood shop , and I decided to buy this one. It works great !! I got tired of wearing the disposable masks that are ok if you are just using it for 10 minutes. I needed something I could wear for long periods of time and I needed it to be comfortable and not hurt the back of my head like the rubber bands on the disposable masks do. I decided to buy this mask based on its more compact design and also because I can replace the filters I love my mask !! I have been using it now for a month or so and wanted to put it to the test before posting a review. I work with all sorts of hard and softwoods, and between the planer, table saw and thickness sanders going , it gets extremely dusty with sawdust even with the exhaust system on. I put this mask to the absolute test. Twice a year I blow out the shop to get all of the sawdust from all the machines and it is a dirty ass job !! There is so much saw dust in the air that the exhaust fans are doing everything they can just to keep up. In the past while wearing regular disposable masks, I get all sorts of sawdust in my nose and at time have even tasted the dust. Wearing my new mask , I got no sawdust at all in my nose . None whatsoever!!! The mask is comfortable , it fits me well even with my thick beard. I would recommend this mask.

NIOSH approved
I recently purchased this face mask for sanding drywall, and I couldn't be more impressed with its performance. Not only does it look sleek and stylish, but the filters also work exceptionally well. After an hour of intense sanding, I didn't feel affected at all, thanks to its excellent filtration capabilities. What sets this mask apart is its incredibly light weight (only 130g) and perfect fit to the contours of the face, ensuring maximum comfort without hindering movement. One of the standout features of this mask is its unique and low-profile filter design, which provides an unobstructed field of vision. This feature is especially crucial for tasks like sanding, where visibility is essential for precision work. Additionally, the low breathing resistance of the mask reduces the risk of user fatigue, allowing for extended periods of wear without discomfort. The pleated HEPA filters further enhance comfort while ensuring high filtration efficiency. I highly recommend this face mask to anyone in need of reliable respiratory protection. Its NIOSH approval (TC-84A-6949) assures its quality and effectiveness. Made from hypoallergenic materials and featuring an easy-to-adjust headband, it's suitable for long-term use without causing irritation. Whether you're working on DIY projects at home or in a professional setting, this mask is a must-have for safety and comfort.

Excelente respirador
Muy cómodo, lo uso casi todo el día para soldar y esmerilar. No sé empaña la careta ni los lentes de seguridad y queda bien con las caretas ya sea de soldad o de seguridad.

Add years to your life by protecting your lungs.
I’ve used it for almost 2 months now 6 hours daily. I work in a metal fabrication shop with 0 sweeping or cleaning policies. I had a bad lung reaction and this I got this mask. Pros. It’s not huge, it’s air right, it allows me to work in an environment with dirty ambient air. The top strap goes above the ears and doesn’t irritate me. It’s easy to take off to talk to someone and remount. I cannot stress enough of how well this worked. Hell, I had to hold my breath in the washrooms it was so bad, and this helps with odour as well (temporarily). I would highly advise this for anyone working in a dirty invironment. I’m not phased by any looks I get. I changed my filters after 1.5 months (20$ is nothing compared to the dust that’s not in my lungs) and I wipe the inside of the mask with rubbing alcohol because it gets itchy after 1 or 2 days. Cons. It took some time to get used to. First the clapping of the air valves, and getting over the noise. Then the inside is relatively small so the circular part of the in air valves touches your upper lip depending on how you mount it on your face. Got over it. Then when you’re doing some labour intensive work, it does sweat up and drips sweat occasionally, got over that. And tbh I have to figure out a way to fix This but the straps really stretch, like they dangle a few inches on each side at this point, maybe I’ll replace them, who knows. I just tighten them more and more every time. Speaking is okay, like people at arms length can hear me, I can’t tell with it on, and I take it down to have some clear chats With people. It’s also a good excuse not to talk to people. Anyways And last con is that it’s not easy wear the mask with a beard without it irritating you, even a short unsaved chin starts to itch and you find yourself moving The mask back and forth to find a sweet spot over and over. Overall it’s a definite buy and a life (literally) saver for me. Again 20$ is nothing for the filters for the pain and years I’m saving later down the line. Just get used to it and you’ll be fine. Yeah I’ll shave my chin for a comfortable wear but who cares. Once I compared my used and new filters side by side; I’m shocked how my coworkers don’t want a mask of their own. Anyways to each their own.
