A relevant, relatable guide to dealing with content across devices, channels, and more
Ann Rockley has been thinking, writing, and speaking about intelligent, reusable content for decades--and it shows in this book, which just drips with expertise. Before I got into Managing Enterprise Content, I was worried it would be dry and technical. Thankfully, I was 100% wrong. Much updated and expanded from the first edition, this version offers tons of practical advice in a way that's straightforward and relatable for any content professional. If you're grappling with endless devices and channels for your content, or if you want to take your skill set from marketing or technical communications to organization-wide content strategy, I definitely recommend this book.

A must read for content managment departments
If you are going to tackle content management, this book is a must. Ms. Rockley and Mr. Cooper have obviously been to this rodeo a number of times. I already had the first edition but, in the intervening years a lot has happened. I think the authors must have revisited each page.Really, if you are serious about content management, get this book.

Great ideas, but for my area - professional services - I didn't find it very practical. There isn't any software on the market that supports the "component" content paradigm, and it's impractical to expect users to use xml in their every day work.

Four Stars
Amazon order good. Book repeats much of what is being said elsewhere.

Great resource even for seasoned CMS experts
I've led six enterprise CMS implementations prior to reading this book so I've been around the block so to speak. Still the author did a wonderful job bringing all the concepts and components of CMS together in a very clear, concise, and logical way that helped me better understand enterprise digital content management.

You need this
if you have any managerial responsibility for tech doc. One feels the heft of real world experience in every section. It's a book that leaves you smarter than it found you.

Tedious and doesn't get to the point quick enough
Beats around the bush a lot, the book is full of waffle which makes a relatively simple process harder to understand and or to get to the main points relatively quickly. For a book that aims to make content clearer, it uses a great deal of muddy language and unnecessary waffle, which means you have to read the whole book before you can understand the process and start implementing it.

Taking content strategy to the next level
A very detailed look at implementing all the content strategy processes in huge organisations. The book looks particularly at 'adaptive content' - content that is modular, that can be served to multiple devices and platforms such as mobile and tablets. They look at quite technical topics such as XML and DITA and show in non-technical terms how these can enable our content to be more device-independent and therefore less labour-intensive and more future-proof. Brilliant.

Fabulous book!
Best technical book I have read in last five years! Well written, easy to understand without being too dummed down. Hugely important and relevant message to everyone involved with managing content (on or off line). I am highly recommending it.

Nothing against the book itself but the amazon reprint sucks
This is a poor quality black and white print of the book.
