They are great to embroider using your favorite transfers. I do wish they were just a bit larger.

Cotton, like I knew when I was young. Luxurious it may be, but affordable they are. I recommend these towels to someone who wants to start their kitchen off with a winning attitude. Need to dry your clean hands? Grab a fresh one for the job. Need to cover your fresh baked bread? Don't use fresheners or softeners in your dryer or wash and you'll find these perfect for the job. If my fingers were still nimble I'd do some embroidery work on them as they are the perfect style. I remember my Nana having a set like these at one of her houses where each towel had a week day done on it with a cross hatch. It must have been these have always come in sets of six because I asked her about the last one, for Sunday. She said that Sunday was to be a day of rest, so there wasn't one for that day. From what I could see of our life back then, there wasn't really a day of rest for the women folk as it was spent getting us children ready for church. That was a task as well as making breakfast and making sure to have the dishes ready for the potluck that we'd all do at the church after service. They wash up nicely. Roll up nicer still so I can place them all in a small chrome basket I keep on my counter at the ready, instead of in a drawer that you have to open with wet hands. In my 20's, I learned this trick from a dear girl friend of keeping cloth towels close by the job of cutting and cleaning. I have been looking for these for a long time. I am giving away my old towels and only having these. I ordered one set first to see if they fit the bill. I am now washing up my second order of six, to make a dozen in my basket. I am a repeat customer! I love-love-love these hefty, well constructed kitchen towels. They look great to line a basket with for gift giving or to hold hot rolls on the dining table. The colors are cheerful, the weave is very tight. They feel like pure cotton quality in your hands. Also very nice for embroidering for gift giving. Soft, but not too soft, stury, but not rough. Perfect size to fold for your kitchen drawer; and they clean up bright white again until, like me, you use them for everything so eventually get dingy. Probably bleach would keep that from happening, but I love them and they are a great price, so I just move the dingies into the laundry room and give myself a present of a new set every year.

These absorb optimally after 3-4 washes.they're great for streak-free drying.
