Finally! Something designed right that actually works!

*by "***B on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 2, 2015*

There is so much cheap junk out there that is poorly designed, badly built, and made of cheap materials, that when something comes which is actually well-designed and works, it just about brings tears to my eyes. These lighters have much going for them. They are refillable, although I have not had to attempt that yet. I struggle with refilling butane devices, perhaps due to some genetic defect which renders it impossible for me. I hope to have better luck with these. But they are not disposable one-use devices destined for our overflowing landfills. They were not designed by the Nanny State which requires everything to have a "safety device" on board. All you have to do to light one is pull the trigger. No second "flame enable" switch which is impossible to move is present. Oh, the joy of simply pressing the trigger, getting a flame at the end, and lighting a candle. The flame is adjustable, and when you really crank it, you get a pretty good flame!Having had mine for less than a week I cannot vouch for how long these will last. And they are plastic, like everything else. So fingers crossed here.Bottom line: They are designed by intelligent people for intelligent people, and if they last, and if I can figure out how to refill them, I will remain delighted with these lighters.

    Rather good for the value

Rather good for the value. The only bad thing I've noticed is that there's not really a safety mechanism on these that requires two points of contact. So ah yeah, there's no child safety lock and so forth. There are other designs or models I've seen in which you push something with the thumb and use your pointer or middle finger to actuate the actual ignition mechanism. Otherwise I'd give it 4 or 5 stars. They do feel kinda cheap when you use them but, they are very reliable so far. I bought the 5 pack thinking one or two wouldn't work, or there'd be a few with no butane in them, first two are working flawlessly. Pull the trigger, it clicks, flame appears, everything works. I haven't tried the remaining 3 yet.I use them to light a meditation candle rather than anything involving cooking. Got tired of using matches and having a cup of water on hand to douse the match with. The long wand tube thingy is quite nice, even a half buried wick isn't an issue with these things. The cigarette lighter on the other hand I wouldn't try unless it's a new candle and the wick is very apparent.I'm really liking the ability to refill them, I'm generating very little waste this way.

    Finger pinchers, questionable value

*by D***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 21, 2015*

I didn't find these lighters difficult to light, but my wife said they were a little too stiff. The complaint I have is that the trigger will pinch both sides of your finger every time you press it. This might not be an issue with smaller fingers.I bought these because it seemed like a really good value. Now that I think about it, I'm not so sure. The lighters are very cheap, and have hardly any fuel in them. I'd say you could get something just as good from a dollar store for $1. The small lighter is probably $0.50 and the canister of butane fuel is probably $2. So the combined retail value would be $7.50, which makes the price tag of almost $12 seem a little hefty.
