Last week while emptying my Charville compost bin into my outdoor composting drum I noticed a 3" vertical crack at the bins upper ring. See Picture. I've been using this been since I purchased it from Amazon last December and was very satisfied. I emailed the retailer at [email protected] inquiring about the Lifetime Warranty. Neville soon replied saying he would refund the purchase price and was sorry this happened. When I purchased this bin there weren't any reviews about some of them having the same defect as mine has. I can only attribute it to a bad run of bins along with the one I received. Thank you Neville for the taking care of this. This is the reason I've almost exclusively used Amazon for my purchases. Great customer service and quick resolution when there's any problems, and prices are great!

Affordable starter composter
A gift for my husband. We have been putting all our veggie scraps, coffee grounds and egg shells in it. The kitchen does not stink and the bin does not take up much space, plus it looks great.

I like the fact the veggies and fruit waste I throw in the bin are out of site and are kept from getting really stinky before I take them out to the garden.

Definitely worth purchasing a product for the specific purpose.
This compost bin has worked great for us over the past several months. My son had an interest in composting, so we purchased a larger drum style bind for outside, and this for our kitchen. We fill it up over several days, to a week, and then take it out to dump it. What I like about it: 1. I have not had any fruit flies, even when there is already rotting fruits/vegetables inside. 2. I have not once smelled any kind of odor coming out of it, even when it's almost full. 3. It is easy to clean in the sink, and dishwasher safe, as well, if you remove the carbon filter, first. 4. You can purchase replacement filters, but we haven't found a need for one yet. 5. It holds a week's worth of coffee grounds, as well as food scraps. (At least, it does in our household of 4). I don't really have any negatives for this particular product. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful item...unfortunately, mine has a pinhole leak. Exchanging. Defective. Can't wait for replacement - :)
Absolutely love the design however there is literally a "pinhole" which causes my liquid to run all over my counter. I need to exchange as it is obviously a defect. It has taken me this long to locate the leak...it's that tiny and that annoying. Can't wait for my replacement. Now to figure out how to exchange it.

Love this compost bin!!
For years I have been using similar sized plastic compost bins however they always became stinky and I could never completely clean them. This resulted in having to leave them outside on a porch, defeating the whole idea of having a kitchen composter. I love this composter! Like the size, the looks of it, the construction (sturdy steel with double filters) and the ease of cleaning it without stinky residue. It has simplified the process of composting as I now can empty it into the large compost bucket lined with a tall bio-bag that sits on my porch. Once full - off to the garden composter which is something I only want to do monthly in the winter.

Compost bin splits down the side.
I purchased the Charville compost bin a year ago. I was very satisfied with the product til a month ago when it suddenly split down half the length of the side. We have been very careful in handling and as there are no dents it obviously wasn't from an impact.

Replaced the OXO Good Grips Compost Bin with this a few months ago and never looked back. It's larger, allowing us to skip a day or so between dumpings and has a handle design preventing it from falling completely off during all those get-the-last-few-bits-out banging sessions on the side of the outside bin. Design is nice and looks good on the counter. Not sure if it's contributing, but we've had less fruit flies, though I'm inclined to think frequent emptying's probably the best control practice.
