Anarchy in Missouri
This KU library selection is the conclusion of Gateway to Chaos, a post-apocalyptic series set in Missouri. Our band of survivors is growing smaller as the risks they have to take to continue to survive grow larger. They've won and they've lost, often too much to bear. But the remnant presses on, even when hope for a safe refuge is a fading mirage in the distance and Florida is a distant dream.

Realistic & Frightening.
This story describes in chilling detail how ill prepared the US is for an EMP attack. Congress has had the chance to prepare, to protect us, but refuses to act. When an attack does occur as depicted in this story, the US rapidly falls into chaos. The strong prey on the weak, & millions die. This story follows a small band, trying to survive, & reach home across several states. Good read & accurate.

Great book and author of a series ending with this book.
Thankfully the author has another series ..the fall of Houston, another of this same vein of post apocalypse stories coming out this fall of 2021, can't wait frankly. This book you have here fills in gaps and has lots of action, it concludes a story all too real if the Apocalypse comes.....

I've struggled with this series
I've got a great fondness for stories in this genre. The struggles of human nature through disasters is something I think few people take seriously unless they are currently living in one. I give a lot of leeway for writers because at the end of the day you're the ones giving me a story to escape in. I made it to them passing thru the property of the girl and father after being run off the Ward's. There is a serious issue with the flow, transitioning, and outright lacking of rhyme or reasoning in some instances throughout the entire series. I had to stop at the aforementioned juncture because it was just enough. A father and his daughter, who had chickens stolen before, come across our group that is completely unknown to them in numbers or fighting disposition... and the girl holds the entire group hostage accusing them of being poachers??? The dad runs up and takes a shot while moving with a scope rifle??? And EVERY time a gun goes off the MCs automatically hit the deck and loose complete situational awareness but hey lets hit the deck then stand up and shout let's get outta here?? Logically.... even with it being such a disaster.... it makes 0 sense for that man to run up and shoot at such a large group... the hunting camo implies they might know something about hunting and guns and to not run and shoot a scope rifle... it's silly and stupid. The constant stickups the group goes thru... like come on after the first 1 or 2 they gotta wake up and realize they need to keep an eye on their surroundings. Its unrealistic at this point that any of them should have survived to the point that they had in the book. I feel like all of the story I can sum up to some voice being heard to say dont move or freeze ... they automatically drop their guns and still they are illogically pursued to hear the fated gun shot at which point they jump face first on the ground and then you hear some voice shout we gotta go... rinse repeat. Mix it in with the characters flipping back and forth and being wishy washy and the nonstop stream of 1 bad decision after another.... characters have to evolve. Even in such a chaotic setting you can still find some logic and reason whereas in this series its just abstract anarchy. The extreme likelihood of just so many things that would play out like they had it made already a story of fiction just flat out unbelieveable. Humanity is not that stupid. All that said. I'm not trying to be hateful, I just suck at giving criticism and finding ways to make it constructive. If you can read my review in any way possible that makes it helpful and insightful and me sound less like an ass then that's HOW I WANTED it to sound. I just lack the ability to convey it as such. So 0 stars for me on that.

Exciting
I loved the story but sometimes they sure weren't very smart. Of course their age could have something to do with poor decisions.
