Works great so far
Hooked up fine and connected to the Renogy app without a problem. I replaced a Renogy device with this after the Renogy died in less than two years.

Device works, but software is terrible
The app that you need to use with this bluetooth device is pretty bad. It lets you do some basic management, but doesn't add anything that you can't do with the direct interface on most charge controllers. The data logging and review feature is why I purchased this, but that aspect of the app is so glitchy that it's basically useless. It will not display data for the last 30 days but data from 31 days ago will show up. The graphs and charts are also broken. It shouldn't be a difficult fix and there is no excuse for this. I wouldn't buy again knowing what I know now.

As compared to the upgraded Renogy branded version
Summary: Recently bought a 20A Renogy MPPT controller, and wanted to read the stats via smartphone. At time of ordering, the Renogy version was out of stock, so I bought this Rich Solar version.Observations: 1) The app leaves a lot to be desired. It works marginally, disconnects often, and the graphs do not work. 2) This version, the square body, is the same as the older Renogy; the never Renogy is smaller and rectangular. The Renogy app works better as well; refreshes quicker, and more consistently, and the graphs work better. 3) The BT link light only works when the app is in the foreground. 4) The range is poor, and no where near the advertised range.Recommendations: Buy the newer (smaller) Renogy version for $36.Pros: None.Cons: As discussed above. Conclusion: At $30, rating this one 1-star, and not recommending.Related Products:Renogy Bluetooth Module RJ12 Communication Port Compatible Rover/Wanderer/Adventurer Charge Controllers, BT-1 RS232 ~ $36https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0894SDTSL/

The Bluetooth works, but the signal is weak. Must be close, less than 10 feet.
Like having the ability to reprogram the parameters, but to get connected I must be within a 10 foot radius to establish connectivity. I really wanted a range of 25-50 feet. This appears to be a low energy Bluetooth device.

works ok
Better than the display on the front of the rover, but a couple quirks. Connection is easy even for a blue tooth device, which is good because the app disconnects a lot. The app is ok at best, so that cost them 1 star, but it does what is needed, and unless you are going to stare at it constantly the disconnections are not that annoying. Overall I'd buy again!

Did not wor.
Did not work, I bought the USB cable too and it did not work. It could be the controller itself with them both not working. but the controller does what it suppose to in keeping my battery charged. I'm disappointed that I can't get data but live and learn. Never buying RICH SOLAR products again.
