Red Rider's Hood (Dark Fusion)

I love this series as a whole, and this book is no exception. Red Rider's Hood is a fun (if a little dark) story, and left me wanting more fairy tale re-imaginings to read. As with most of Shusterman's books, it is not a difficult read. I think it took me maybe 4 or 5 hours to get through it the last time I read it. However, he packs a heck of a story into so few pages.

Red may not be the best guy in the neighborhood but he has managed to avoid falling in with either of the local gangs. His pride and joy is a deep red Mustang which he loves to drive. But then his car is stolen and Red finds himself funning afoul of the Wolves, one of the gangs. No sooner is he in trouble than the Wolves kidnap his grandmother. It is then that Red learns the horrible truth about the Wolves. They are really werewolves and they are not to be trifled with.Red discovers that werewolves were in the neighborhood many years ago. That time things were cleared up because some werewolf hunters came to town and quietly took care of the situation. Now red decides he has to find the werewolf hunters before things get completely out of hand. To make matters worse, these werewolves are smart. They have a devastating plan that will affect more than just Red's neighborhood. But if Red cannot find the hunters will he be able to handle the Wolves fore they realize their plans and become unstoppable?This second Dark Fusion book is not the first time Red Riding Hood has been combined with werewolves but I believe it is the first time it has been done in a modern urban setting. The story is handled very well with action and revelations occurring steadily. The Wolves' plan adds a real sense of urgency in a way much different than the personal urgency in the first book (DREAD LOCKS). The joining of fairy tale to modern horror elements works very well and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Check it out.

let start with author I love his books this one was just a bit darker than his other books in that note I don't think it's the best book of authorI love that author make it more realistic than a more kids bookI do like that red is boy and that there are many different types of new charters and changesbut it was better than red riding hoodthat it would like to see my otheruhhmm

Merely ok. Less interesting than other dark fusion.

This book is terribly written and plays upon cliches. It has no lick of creativity, and does not keep you engaged. This book is awful, trust me just don't buy it.

Love Shusterman....but this one is a little to teenager for me

Sie rauben nicht nur das Geld, sondern auch Reds heißgeliebten Mustang.Nach dem Überfall trifft sich Red mit der jungen Marissa und erfährt die Wahrheit über die Gang, die seine Großmutter und ihn überfallen haben.Diese Gang besteht in Wahrheit aus Werwölfen und alles deutet darauf hin dass Marissas älterer Bruder zu denen gehört.Auch Reds Großmutter weiß, dass die Gangmitglieder aus Werwölfen besteht.Die drei tun sich zusammen um den Werwölfen Einhalt zu gebieten.Red fasst einen riskanten Plan:Er will sich der Gang anschließen um deren Vertrauen zu gewinnen und deren Schwächen zu finden.Red schließt sich der Gang an und schon bald wird ihm sogar angeboten sich beim nächsten Vollmond von denen verwandeln zu lassen.Red fängt langsam an es reizvoll zu finden ein Werwolf zu werden.Wird Red sich entscheiden ein Werwolf zu werden oder wird er beim Versuch die Schreckensherrschaft der Gang zu beenden sein Leben lassen müssen?Eine sehr interessante Fantasyhorrorstory, mit unerwarteten Wendungen.
