Great knife
This was my every day carry for several years. Love this knife. Thick blade, super sharp, tight lockup and very nice steel. Comfortable to use and a joy to own. Highly recommended.

Nice knife
I know some people have had issues with there’s but mine knife is excellent. It arrives very sharp and the blade is very solid with wiggling when pulled out.

A good folding, "sharpened pry-bar" for military, farm and construction use.
This knife's thick blade stock (.19in/4.5mm), combined with the 2/3rds, shortish flat grind, results in a less-than-ideal slicing capability for common EDC tasks like cardboard, vinyl hoses, food prep, etc, that you would do better with thinner blades, due to the significant behind the edge thickness of the SR1, which intentionally adds to edge/blade durability, at the cost of slicing capability. The edge however is shaving sharp (est 25deg) as expected from all Cold Steel knives, so it works just fine on small tasks like box opening, 550 cord and cloth (and heavy duty use, of course). This version of the SR1 is not as polished/finished as the S35vn/G10 version: the top spine of both the blade and lock on mine had some sharp edges that needed to be taken down with a dual sided diamond sharpener (Schrade), and there are cosmetic tool marks under the lockbar. Also, the main blade screw loosened quickly, which I noticed while doing "death grip" testing for blade/lock movement… the blade started rattling side to side when closed). I'd suggest you find the perfect tension on this screw for your opening tension preference, then blue locktite it in place. Also, like all CS folders, the traction on the handles require the smoothing of the area under/around the clip in order for smooth-ish pocket use...dont try and bend the clip out...its a beast, and it's the wrong fix...be a technically competent human, not a brute neanderthal: just use the sides of the clip as a sharpee template, remove clip, sand down the area under the clip with a cheap dremel tool (cordless kit at Walmart is $10), replace clip: done. With it's blade size, this knife should be thought of as a survival, military and construction knife; not as a significant pocket friendly urban edc knife. However, it's one of the few folders that can be trusted to be used for light batoning of wood for fire, shelter, notching tasks, used as a light prybar, impromptu can opener, etc. This strength of blade and lock also makes it ideal as a weapon; one that can be relied upon to not close or break, no matter what it hits or is hit by (which is a big deal for those who might use it as such). Also, the rather squared off, neutral handle is great for any type of grip, and works great for gloves, even with XL hands like mine. In the proper use-roles for this knife, it can only be matched by a few production folding knives, such as the SOG SEAL XR (which I have), and a full sized Benchmade Adamas, but both are 3-4 times this price (ouch!). If we are honest about actual urban EDC knife needs, this knife doesn't fit that bill very well. If you want a better daily carry EDC folding knife for about the same price and blade length, that still has Tri-Ad lock strength, the 12mm wide CS Voyager Clip Point-Large would be a better alternative. Or even better, If you are willing to pony up another $30, the CS Recon1 at 14mm, in either clip or drop point, or the American Lawman, makes for much better all-in-one heavy-ish EDC knives, and those all have great S35vn steel and G10 handles as well. However, all of these alternatives have angled handles with finger grooves, making a Pikal grip ("Ice Pick", with edge inward) nearly impossible, which is a big reason why this SR1 makes for a better weapon then all those mentioned. I also believe the tanto version of this knife has better terminal penetration into most mediums than the drop point, especially leather, soft kevlar, rib bones, auto steel, etc.In Summary, if you truly need a fairly inexpensive, folding, "sharpened pry-bar" for military, light survival, self defense, hard farm and construction use, it's tough to beat the SR1 Lite for the price! FYI, I wouldn't spend the extra $80+ for the S35vn version, as I prefer the much easier/quicker sharpening of this cheaper steel, especially when the edge takes a serious beating with heavy use.

Amazing Knife, especially for the price point.
I’ll cut right to the chase (no pun intended). It’s a great knife. Perfect size and shape. Opens smoothly and is very sharp. However, like many people have mentioned, the clip is too stiff and is very difficult to remove from pocket. I have had some sweatpants that I’ve had for years rip a bit because of this. I’ve heard that some people have removed it and sanded down the area under the clip and that helped. I would recommend that if you can do that easily and are okay with the clip overall. However, let me give you a better and easier solution. To remedy the situation, I went ahead and ordered a replacement clip from Boker USA. I ordered a “ Böker Plus Strike Pocket Clip” in black for like $7 dollars and free shipping. So after replacing the clip, no only does it not have any issues with removing it, but now the clip is black, it’s smaller and less intrusive to hold, and it’s also an deep carry clip. 100% worth buying. Now for me, the knife is perfect.
