Fantastic!
Reckless Road is book 5 of Torpedo Ink by Christine Feehan @authorcfeehan and is a spinoff series from both of the Sea Haven series. Gedeon aka Player is a former assassin for the Russian government. Zyah came to a Torpedo Ink club party as a DD for an acquaintance & meets Player while he is in the midst of a full blown migraine. They make love all night long, then tells her to leave as he doesn’t let anyone stay to sleep. She leaves very upset. He wakes up thinking she was dream, then realizes she was real, freaking out that he kicked out his dream woman who HEALED his migraine! He tracks her down, but she tells him to go away. He follows her home after she agrees to introduce members to her grandma. He is shot protecting her. Steel (book 2) & Zyah heal Player. After he was shot, his nightmares are coming nightly & he is building a bomb in his head. They figure out that the picture in Zyah’s bedroom is letting in a bomb maker that was Zyah’s grandmothers step son. Zyah moves in with Player. They both accept each other’s talents. I adored this book!

Love this story and what it adds to the Torpedo Ink series
Love this story and what it adds to the Torpedo Ink series. We start off learning why Player was so quiet in previous books, come to know his psychic gifts and what happens with them when he is tired, has used them too long and migraines begin. We meet the heroine, Zyah, who has amazing psychic gifts herself. We learn she can sooth Player, distract him, and help him control his overwrought abilities and the danger they can bring to innocent people and those he cares about…a danger he has never told the Torpedo ink members. And yes, we see Player, exhausted and a bit delusional fall back onto the code Czar instilled in them for their safety and insult Zyah in the most insulting way a man can. What follows is a beautifully written paranormal tale of a journey to love, through the use of psychic gifts and connection as they try to solve his psychic chaos that’s putting everyone in danger. At the same time reality takes Torpedo Ink on a hunt for thieves and murderers! Zyah’s a strong woman who’s always known love and must learn what it’s like to love a man who has broken and tortured soul. Player’s a man who doesn’t know love or know how to give or receive it. He must learn to not use his past as an excuse not to grow or let others in. Not to use it as an excuse not to move forward. It’s an emotional must read- must experience story! Just know it includes a “I can’t believe Christine did that to him” plot twist! My heart breaks for Player as his nightmares reveal what his life with Sorbacov was like, what he did for the happiness of the others even though it tortured him, but what was more heart breaking was how we see Player try and convince Destroyer he belongs with the Torpedo Ink family, deserved his spot with them, and he soothed Zyah, telling her that the facts were needed, had to be shared and discovered before judgement was passed… yet he denies himself the worthiness of both. The fact that Zyah doesn’t reject him or judge him makes him feel more shame. He wasn’t worthy of her. Her grandmother, Mama Anat is driving force to move him forward, with wise words and a kind heart. She grows to be special to him and all of Torpedo Ink as they become part of their lives. How does he prove he’s ready to move forward is definitely an enjoyable part of this must read story … Love his lessons learned through SeaHaven friends and even the advice from his Sisters. This book is full of strong intelligent women! Love their addition to the plot that helps Zyah and Player move along the road to a Happily Ever After. As their relationship grows, Player and Zyah follow their psychic connection to try and solve what’s disrupting his gifts, making him a danger to everyone. His issues finally force him to tell Czar the secrets he’s kept, I hope the reaction from Czar and the other members of Torpedo Ink, who also pointing out how many times he saved them, take away his guilt, his feeling of odd man out. They both learn that being open to giving and receiving love, happily, includes the hot sex and help they can give each other, too. They spend so much time looking for clues in his past to solve his psychic issues, they almost miss the true danger staring them in the face! Oh the revelations that come from it when they figure it out! And Torpedo Ink, along with law enforcement from Sea Haven close in and deliver karma to those threatening the elderly in Caspar and Sea Haven. Bringing action and the teamwork they do so well!As usual, one member finding love brings more to the rest of the club, too. But I believe more so in this journey... I love how Zyah, Mama Anat, and the community of Sea Haven (some favorites!) and Caspar help the members of Torpedo Ink understand more of their new normal. The moments of humor and bonding between them all are so well written! The events that move the plot reminds us how special Sea Haven is and shows how Caspar is beginning to become not just a place to exist but a home for these tortured souls. I can’t wait to revisit this series and see where they go from here!

Seems like a placeholder
(Spoilers)Before Reckless Road came out I read the other Torpedo Ink books again. That let me go into this book with a fresh idea of who the characters are, what their personalities look like. Admittedly, I really didn’t like the previous book. Too much time on kitten play, not enough time on character development. And, frankly, I was tired of reading the word “star” unless it applied to a sapphire or something one would see in the sky. Enough about that. This book leaves so many unanswered questions. I realize there is a developmental arc these books are going on. These characters are taking a journey, and we may never see the end of that journey simply because they should seem to continue to live off the page. But, there were unanswered questions in this book ABOUT this book. Some of the characters even noted those unanswered questions. For instance, how did what was being seen as a malevolent force by Player, an individual who has psychic sensitivities, by Zyah who can read people through her connection with the earth, turn in to Anut’s adopted son? Who loves her, but hasn’t attempted to contact her in 17 years, or send her money or help of any kind? Even after they established a way he could contact her safely? He just pops up at the end of the book, no additional explanation. I can’t figure out if he’s a pointless character add, or if he’s going to turn into being some really bad person and Christine is just messing with us all right now. What the heck is going on with Alena and Pierce? He is only in one scene and in that scene Alena acts completely out of character. She allows him to come into her restaurant, where she is trying to work and get her business off the ground, and basically lets him throw a neglect tantrum. Supposedly they see each other on a regular basis, he knows this restaurant is important to her, he should understand – since he’s portrayed as an intelligent individual – that involves a lot of hard work, but he disrespects her efforts and her needs. Instead of kicking his butt out, she goes outside with him, gets up to some undescribed thing which one can only assume is sexual in nature, leaving food on the stove that has to be served her customers. I thought she was supposed to be disciplined, efficient, I thought she was supposed to have a certain level of calm. The whole she “forgot” their date three times in a row is just too highschooler for me. This is not the kind of thing that adults with a high degree of discipline do. I realize they’re all supposed be working, developing into people who can exist in a world they don’t exactly understand, but that was so off for her.Torpedo Ink has been hanging around Sea Haven for a while now. But they don’t live in Sea Haven, just close to it. This book has a lot of Jonas, a lot of Jackson, and then we have Hannah and her store. I appreciate these characters are wrapped into this world since they are closely related. But, I also felt Hannah was sort of thrown in there for effect because the Sea Haven books are so loved. I try not to make eye contact with the fact Torpedo Ink runs around killing people and Jonas and Jackson, who are supposed to be intelligent and good at what they do, can’t pin anything on these guys other than a traffic ticket. I worked a bit with national law enforcement at one time in my career and I’m here to tell you this would’ve bumped up the chain by now and the FBI would be all over the MC. Plus, so many motorcycle clubs in such a little patch of land. Seriously, I’m surprised they’re not running into each other at four way stop signs. Then the book ends. And it is abrupt, and it leaves all these questions, and it has all these odd episodes that I suppose are supposed to pass for character development, and yet don’t really do that. So I’m giving this book 3 stars, because it was better than the last one, I didn’t have to skip whole half chapters as Christine described anal sex repeatedly. And, yet. There is something missing here. I just don’t have the whetherall right now to figure out what it is.

An enjoyable plot driven return to Sea Haven and Caspar
With Reckless Road is seems that Christine Feehan has returned to the style of writing I prefer.Romance, drama, characters who have depth and most importantly some plot.Previous Torpedo Ink books have concentrated a little too much on the character's history or have lost any semblance of a good story and become practically porn.Reckless Road provides more story in the now, and is a lot closer to the Drake sisters style than some of it's brethren, which for me is what I'm looking for in CF book.It was refreshing to gave a break from the normal TI missions, and a chance to see the the gentler side of these characters. If you read this series predominantly for the 'biker' element then you will likely be disappointed. If you read them because you are invested in the characters of Torpedo Ink then I think you will enjoy it.

So much better than than the last book in this series
Finally Christine is back doing what she does best. After the last book in this series I wasn’t going to buy anymore of her books as I felt it had gone way too far. The woman crawling around on her knees pretending to be a cat with a jewelled tail stuck up her bottom was too much for me. However I checked out the reviews for this book out of curiosity and saw that people were loving it. I took the risk and ordered and am so glad I did. Great book, more of a storyline, less sexual deviance and it was great that there was more involvement with the drake sisters. So glad to see she obviously listened to her readers about the previous book.

Fantastic writer! Read any of her books!
I’ve been a big fan of Christine Feehan for a lot of years ever since I found her on Amazon and I can honestly say that she never disappoints me whichever genre she writes. This follow on series is just as good as anything she has written and I look forward to reading the next book she publishes in the future!
