Updated review and issues 01/18/2017
Update:2 issues: I am not so impressed with the headset as I was. It creaks with every move of my head. It's a plastic frame that creaks. Very annoying. Issue 2. The dongle quit broadcasting. I get the "paired" notification but the usb/opticle doesn't work anymore and I now have to use the 3.5 cable to attach to my controller and you can't buy a replacement dongle from Turtle Beach. So basically I am using it in the $50 headset configuration. I should have spent the extra $50 and bought the Astro 40.Bought this for my PS4. The installation was simple. My advice is to just simply follow the guide for setup.Sound is great. There is a preset button on the right ear piece for bass boost, base/treble boost and natural sound. Two volume controls that can be easily reached with a little practice on the right ear piece. There's also an on/off switch in center of right ear piece that you will also depress for 5 seconds to pair with the usb dongle.Sound quality is way better than my former logitech wired headset that had same size drivers. I am hearing sounds that I didn't hear before. The footsteps noises are actually boosted. Sound quality is also better than my Seinheiser 160s. I used the included 3.5 cable to listen to music with my phone and it was impressive enough. This headset is light. You will have to be careful to not set these down hard or break them. I recommend getting stand holder for these.Only reason I didnt give them 5, is that there are better headsets but you will pay $250+ for them. Great deal.

I do like the fine tuning it gives you with chat and ...
Update: its head band have broken on both sides above the ear cuffs. Definitely wants tested well with lifespan after 8 months. I've tried to use epoxy to connect them back but they keep breaking. The plastic that they used was not meant to be bent that much. I would not buy this or anything made of the same quality of plastic. Look for something that has a metal rim to bend.I'm basing this off of playing Destiny and watching movies with the Playstation Gold Headset for over a year.7/10 sound8/10 mic7/10 comfort4/10 usability/practicality8/10 setup-/10 lifespanSound - I work in video production so I've got an ear for sound quality. This thing, even with the bass boos preset does not have the fidelity of the PS Gold Headset. I switched between the Surround Sound and Stereo settings (because if find most 7.1 SS headsets to be hallow) and no noticeable increase in quality. I do like the fine tuning it gives you with chat and game volume.Mic - the mic is pretty nice, easy to move around and good quality. I notice some people don't like the monitoring but i do. It picks up more specifically on peaking and when your breathing into the mic. the stuff thats annoying to hear from other people. you won't hear your own voice much though, which i find to be fine.Comfort - its a little tight. i ware glasses and have yet to be in pain from it but its a noticeable difference and does make me fee like there is a bit of pressure on my head. But after 8 hours of use it didn't become unbearable, just noticeable.Usability - The presets might as well just not exist. it would be more helpful to get complete control of the EQ to make them usable. like i said about the sound, very little differences in settings. I'm not a fan of the blinking LED logo that is on while the headset is powered on. I thought it was pairing at first then read it was the normal sign that it was on (considering putting tape over the LED logos) the adjustments for headsize are too tight to adjust while its on your head. you need to take it off to adjust. There is no way to gauge battery life outside of its audio queues of "fully charged" and "battery life low". The PS Gold headset would show battery life on screen if you hit the dashboard, same as how it shows your controller's life.Setup - the only reason i'm giving it a 8/10 is that i have to unplug the USB dongle to switch from headset audio to TV audio. outside of that the setup is pretty quick and easy.Lifespan - i've only had it for a month so i've not noticed a decrease or major issue with charge time or battery life. Advertised life on the box says 15 hours. i get closer to 8 when playing and chatting. still thats pretty long.Verditc - Dont get the Surround Sound version. hardly noticeable VS stereo mode. Get the PS Gold Headsets. They are almost the same price and just work better. Only reason i got these was that the bands that compress the PS headset's earcups broke on my old pair (i may have been a little too rough with them, but i've had them since PS4 came out, so thats a good lifespan)

I've owned the x12's, PS Gold's and the 500p's. Ended up going back to the X12's. Surround is ONLY for FPS gamers.
I've owned the Turtle Beach X12's, PS Gold Wireless and the 500p's. The 500's being the most expensive on the list. I like sound that has good deep bass and clear sound. The 500's did NOT do this for me... Seriously, I've learned a very important lesson when it comes to gaming headphones that NO one tells you about (Because the average gamer doesn't know).... Gaming headphones and virtual surround are made for gamers who 'NEED' to hear footsteps coming up from behind them.Saying that, most gaming headsets in virtual sound will mute or dumb down bass or environmental sound so you can hear things like footsteps very, very clear. Here's what I learned on my third pair of headphones... IF you aren't a FPS gamer and play all sorts of games, get a amplified stereo headset and save yourself a $100 or so dollars. 7.1 / 5.1 and all those gaming presets are for FPS gamers. I say this because I ended up going back to my TB X12's which are $40, I've had them for 5 years and the bass and treble are really well balanced and the bass rumbles in my ears. I went back and forth testing the X12's compared to the Gold's and 500s and I couldn't deny the difference AND they are only $40.SO, as of yesterday I returned my 500's to Amazon and I'm getting the PX24's. This advice I'm giving is coming from someone who plays a lot of different types of games, I don't need to specifically hear footsteps, I want good low rumbling bass and want to hear the heaviness of a gunshot or engine. Don't bother with the expensive surround headphones, they are all hyped. Most people review these and rave about them because they've never owned any other type of pair or compared them to several headphones. They don't know any better. My wife was laughing while I was testing the 500's because I kept yelling, "HOW DOES A $40 X12 Headset beat a $100 7.1 surround set??" It was frustrating because I wanted the 500s to work but for now on I'm sticking to the cheaper ones and getting better sound. Side note, I just bought No Man's Sky and used that game and Just Cause 3 to test the sound on the headphones. The 500's drowned out the phasers and engines. I ended up skipping the surround sound altogether and sticking with the 'Bass & Tremble' setting... WHICH IS essentially the X12's and Px24's. I also threw in GTAV and Metal Gear Solid V. Same results. Also, just to point out, the Gold Wireless lacked any bass whatsoever. I was shocked but then discovered that the reason for no bass is the reason the 500's sucked... It dulls / plays down a lot of atmospheric / environmental sounds including gun shots, etc... This is to give the playing a major edge in FPS so they can hear footsteps, clips reloading, etc. ONE more time, if you aren't a FPS fanatic and don't care if you hear footsteps coming up behind you, get cheaper amplified headphones. Even with the X12's I could get somewhat surround but it keeps all the sounds at a full level and balanced. Just frusturuing because most reviewers don't know this and take it for what it's worth.

Great surround sound headset
These were a real bargain at 33% off the original RRP. I bought these for my son who absolutely loves them. The headphones are easy to connect and the USB dongle required for connect to the PS4 uses up one of the USB ports on the console. The headphones come charged out of the box and are very easy to connect. Press a connect button by inserting a paper clip into a tiny hold on the dongle and then click the right hand earphone on the headset to pair the headset to the dongle. The sound comes through loud and clear with no distortion. I did notice that after a few hours use, the sound started to lag behind the game play as the battery drained down. The microphone on the headset is detachable if all you want to use is the surround sound aspect or you can have chat only or both. The headset also provides voice feedback with a female voice confirming the mode you have selected for the headset.

Great Headset For Gaming/Listening To Music!
Firstly, I'd like to start by saying that this Headset is a great buy. Do not listen to the negativity that others have commented on.They are extremely comfortable and make a snug fit around my head. The features on the headset work as intended, however I did have to re-pair the headset with the USB dongle to get the DTS Surround Modes to change. The Headaet comes with 4 DTS surround options:1. Game Mode - 5.1 Surround SoundI actually don't think that the surround sound is great on this headset. When you first turn the headset on this mode is enabled. To me it sounds like the mid and high end frequencies are suppressed, not as clear as I expected - compared to the Stealth 400p.2. Movie Mode - I haven't yet tried this one out.3. Music Mode - Again, haven't fully used this preset.4. Stereo Mode - This is the one I currently use and it's by far the best preset. It sounds how it should, I'm pretty sure that the majority of games were mixed and mastered in stereo anyway, so there's really no need for surround sound. The sound quality is superb in stereo mode though. I suggest also enabling the bass boost preset when using stereo mode, as it helps the low frequencies punch through. If you're playing an action based game it's perfect.Still a great headset and I would recommend buying it over the Stealth 400 (I've had both) as its more comfortable and the sound quality is better.I hope this helps :)

Best PS4 headset for the pound...
Fantastic headset never thought complete wireless headphones had become so cheap. I had seen these at A#G#S for £129.99 .shocking that they would half price here. great all round headphones ..The first game i used them with was RB6. You really can hear where the players and footsteps are coming from. The mic excellent too.spot on. you cant go wrong with these. you can charge and use them at the same. The only con is battery life being 7 hours tops. not the advertised 15 hours. I just pop them back on charge after taking them off. Recommend for ps4 owners. No more low battery on my ps4 controller. Thanks amazon ..and turtle beach.

Very good.
These are great headphones, and imo worth the money - BUT - on the printed instructions it does say to affix the microphone into the right hand earpiece - but no way could we get the mic to work! The instructions clearly state to fix the mic into the right hand earpiece, but after what felt like forever no way could we get it to work! Googled the instructions, and it said to affix the mic to the left side, which we did, and then it worked perfectly. So if you have problems with the instructions - remember, fix to the left earpiece! Other than this, cannot complain at all, they really are great headphones.

Just a few more for that 5
I've had these for about 2 months now and they have been good for me. The surround sound is good, the presets do a great job of differentiating sound spectrum and it does an all around job in the audio aspect of things. The side tone for the mic is slight but it does the job by helping you not shout over loud noises. The mic is a decent quality and I enjoy that it's easily detachable.I only have 2 issues with this product and that is the product build and it's comfort of use. The headset is made out of plastic and the extenders seem to be made of the thinnest of plastics and I fear that they will break before it hits the 1 year mark. As for the comfort of use, the headset has an uncomfortable tension to its build therefore if you have a bigger head, you might have to remove the headset every few hours for a minute to release the pressure on your head. All in all I would recommend these headsets for its all around capacity and for a price like that, you get more than one you pay for definitely.
