Worked as intended....once I got it on.
Like the title says. It works as intended and it saved my butt...butt, lol it does have one issue and that's the pipe you're snapping this on better be perfectly clean. I tried to fit it on 3 times without success ( I got glue everywhere, im an amature in plumbing also. Im building my own home and never plumbed before) . I had to use a puddy knife to scrape off all the glue and then sand it down. Once i did that, I got the ring on, it held pressure, and I passed inspection let's go!

Did not work (and cannot imagine when it would)
I should have listened to the warning that this is a frequently returned item. In my case, I had the optimal use application as well…a very slow leak around an elbow going into a straight run with a very clean and accessible joint. I followed the directions…and unlike many people…I was able to snap the clasp just fine…but after cleaning/gluing…it still leaked…so despite my best efforts to avoid replacing it all…I still had to replace it all…and because ring is glued in place…I cannot return it…I would not recommend buying and just do what you know you need to do with pvc…replace it…

Works every time if you follow a few simple steps
Worked well on a 3" PVC HVAC vent pipe in 2015 on our house and I used it again to repair the same issue in our condo in 2023. Different structure, same builder. Improperly gluing up PVC joints must have been his signature style... Before you get started, review the ring installation instructions and you'll get the results that this product promises. It is vital to prep the pipe first. I used hot soapy water with a scrub pad to clean it and remove water scale, dirt and paint overspray. I used a stiff-bristled toothbrush on the joint so that there would not be any grit, dirt or contaminants that would interfere with proper adhesion. I also used 2000 grit automotive sandpaper to smooth the surface of the PVC pipe so that the ring would slide well over it. It is true that the ring is a tight fit - that's why it works. It takes some finagling to get it to click closed but the clip will close and it will lock. I hooked it on and off several times and each time, it snapped together after a bit of wrangling. Be patient. Make sure the pipe is dry and read the PVC primer and cleaner directions (sold separately). Wear disposable gloves and eye protection. Attach the ring to the pipe first and lock it closed, keeping it about 3-4" away from the joint you're repairing. This way, the ring is out of the way of the primer and glue application but is in place, ready to be pushed onto the joint, after applying adhesive. Good lighting is important and it's nice to have a helper so you can concentrate on working quickly and carefully. One star off because, true in 2015 as now, this company will not sell a single ring. I donated the extras to Habitat for Humanity but really wish they had the specific size that I need available in a single item package. Overall, a reliable and excellent repair solution for any DIYer.

Picture does not match product
Great concept to solve a problem... my issue is that the ring in the pictures here shows a snap connection that looks like it clicks right in. Nope. My ring has a hook on each end of the break that have to be forced together to complete the ring. So I got everything set, went to put tbe ring in place, and ... I cant. It doesnt "click" together. Scramble to force one end past the other to get the two ends to hook together - with pliers. I get the ring seated, but after it dries, it still drips.Good concept, poor execution, ... terrible pricing for a tiny pvc fitting. The part that sucks the most is I'm going to have to knuckle under and buy it again because I can't cut the pipe out without destroying the housing it's mated to.

Works as advertised!
Worked exactly as advertised. Easy to install and glue. Stopped the slow leak oozing out at the coupling and pipe junction. My only complaint was paying for 3 rings of different sizes. You should be able to just buy one ring. Paid about $15 for 3 rings, two of which I will never use. But $15 saved me a lot of labor! Good product!!!

***DO NOT BUY***
Like MANY others have said the 2” ring didn’t fit around the pipe (wouldn’t latch)... and the fact that in order to get the 2” I also had to either buy the 3&4” or 10 of the 2” is a ripoff...save your money and look for a different solution...
