GLB71114A-02 Strike Out Algaecide, 2-Pack

I got a 17,500 gal pool and basically neglected it over the winter, resulting in a green grey putrid color. Could not see the top stair let alone the bottom of the pool. Bought this and started treatment. By day 3 could see the pool bottom. Weeks end was crystal clear. I dont even do the whole chemical balance thingi. I shock it once a week and that is it + plus this stuff. Works!

I have used this product in my pool for the last few years. A little goes a long way. Cleared up my problem quickly. I now use as a weekly maintenance, and have never had any additional problems.

I cringe when it’s time to reorder chemicals because of the expense but this stuff earned a permanent spot on my must-have list for regular pool maintenance. My wife and I moved into our house with ~32,000 gallon pool 5 years ago; first time pool owners. Most of the first year I had no problem keeping it clean but after a particularly heavy storm one day, and delay in being able to clean up the leaves and small branches that blew in, the organic debris threw the chemical balance out of whack and we found ourselves with a green pool. I knew I needed an algaecide and promptly treated using a brand I found at a local store but unfortunately it barely made a difference. Did a little better searching and found GLB on amazon and decided to try it because of the copper ingredient, I knew copper will kill a full grown tree and stumps so figured it should have an impact on algae. I followed the directions on the bottle and within 24 hours our pool was clear with no trace of algae. Ever since I’ve made sure to have a full bottle of this on hand for emergencies and a second for weekly preventative treatments. For weekly treatments I use very little, I just eyeball it but it’s probably about 1/2-1oz poured in front of the water return in our deep end. Following this routine our water has stayed clear ever since, we did have some minor wall algae and on our steps a couple times over the years due to neglected chlorine levels but a doubled dose of my usual GLB weekly treatment directly in the area of the algae breakout has wiped it out by the next day every time. Again, this stuff isn’t cheap but in my applications it has worked reliably every time.

I had reoccurring episodes of green algae forming on the walls of my pool. I tried multiple algicides including McGrayel Algatec sold here on Amazon. I was literally pouring a quart of that a month and the algae kept coming back. Then I decided to try the Strike Out algicide which has a different ingredient. It worked like a charm and since the initial dose I have not had a algae breakout. Very satisfied.

So let me say, im no pool expert. Literally have no clue what im doing half the time when it comes to proper pool maintenance.All I know is my pool turned into a swamp, it was a putrid green color, you couldn't see the bottom and it stunk. (Keep in mind this happened in a span of a week and a half of monsoon season.)I bought this stuff out of sheer panic because all the chlorine and shock I was dumping in my pool wasn't fixing the ever alive swamp I had in my backyard. And it was continuously getting worse.So when I got it in, I figured what the heck might as well try this. Ill admit, I did not measure this product, but drizzled a little in as I walked the parameter of the pool. And by the NEXT DAY my pool was 75% better! So I drizzled a little more in the following day and by then my pool was blue again!!!! It was a miracle. I could see the bottom and all the green swampiness from the days before were gone.I highly recommend this product because even if you're like me and extremely uneducated about proper pool care, this works!

I feel an obligation to review this product and let potential buyers know how good it is. I am very much a "layperson" when it comes to pool maintenance. I know the basics of keeping the chemicals balanced, and that's about it. For the past several months, I've been dealing with a yellowish dust that forms every few days. I go out and sweep the steps and sides of the pool thoroughly and then the "dust" is back 3 days later. The chemicals appeared to be correct, so I was constantly left wondering if this could be algae if the chlorine, PH, etc. read at good levels. I kept telling myself it was pollen and dust because we live in a windy area- it must just be dirty, right? Wrong. I finally had enough of the yellow, dirty dust and bought this product. I followed the the directions of other reviewers and shocked the pool about 12 hours after using the GLB. About 24 hours later, I used some clarifier that I bought at Lowes. That was 3 weeks ago, and there has been ZERO "yellow dust" in my pool since. That yellow dust was indeed a yellow algae, and this product knocked it out with one treatment. If you're having a similar issue, this product is definitely worth a try.
