When I Grow Up (Who's That?) Board book – October 13, 2015

I work in a pre-school setting with children ages 3-5. This is a favorite "go to" book when choosing a book to read. They just never seem to tire of this book. Children can relate to the teacher, police officer, construction worker, doctor, firefighter, veterinarian,and bus driver within their own communities. The flaps on each page allows children to engage in the book and manipulate the pages. It promotes great conversation about work and what they may want to do when they grow up. The illustrator colors the people yellow, red, white, blue, which leads the reader to identify with all of the people and not those who look like them. It's a subtle but well appreciated nuance in the diverse school that I teach in. He does this with gender too by depicting the police officer and the doctor as a woman.

I'm a preschool teacher and the kids all really loved this book. Obviously the pull out paper is flimsy so we put it up after reading so it doesn't get destroyed, but it's a great book for the kiddos and teaches about neighborhood helpers!

As a retired teacher, I know how much kids enjoy lift the flap books. This is sturdier than some I have seen and a great introduction to community helpers. We purchased this to give with doctor coat and stethoscope, etc. for our grandson.

My 2.5 favorite book!

Great for three year old who is fully engaged in pretend play.

The book is very cute but I am disappointed that the board book does NOT include the lawyer. I bought this book for my nephew because his dad is going to law school... Oh well! I’ll just keep it for my kids, they have already been reading it and enjoying it anyway.

I love all of the Tad Carpenter books. My recently turned one year old loves books with interactive pages and these books always keep him engaged!! I highly recommend this book as well as the other books written by Tad.

Kids loved it.
