NOTE: This Reads left to right - Action oriented, with little dialogue- but neat story and great art
This only took about twenty-five minutes to read. It was quite enjoyable. There isn't a lot of dialogue, it's mostly action. It starts fast and doesn't let up. There's a lot of panels with no dialogue at all. Usually I don't like action manga, I don't always feel like it translates well to the genre, but this was really OK. This first volume for the most part is just Jack the Ripper killing women-monsters. The story mainly revolves around a police officer who has been investigating Jack the Ripper.Generally, I doubt anyone would be happy with just volume one. New characters are introduced at the very end, and there's very little resolution. The art is GREAT. I love how Jack's face is portrayed in so many ways - sometimes he's so psychotic looking, and other times he is rather handsome. It's very expressive.I've already ordered the other volumes and I'm looking forward to them.It contains nudity, gore, and graphic violence.Note that this reads left to right, unlike Japanese manga, which often reads right to left.

"London is becoming hell on earth"
This is my first experience with a Korean manga and at first I found it a little weird to be reading manga from left to right, but this only lasted a few pages. Overall, I found a story that was good enough for me to be curious as to pursue further volumes. In the back cover blurb it compares itself to Berserk and Hellsing by claiming fans of these manga will like Jack the Ripper, and even though I can see the connections, the quality is not exactly up to par. Of course, having Berserk as a benchmark is a very tall order, and few authors could hope to come close to that one.The story begins with Roy, a detective pursuing a serial killer called Jack the Ripper. This will be familiar to many, but we soon find out that people think Jack may actually be a demon. As soon as I read this, I recalled the reference to Berserk and I wondered if that was the connection. Roy is in a relationship with Susan, a widow who has an evil mother-in-law. The old woman will chill your bones, but soon you will find even more bone-chilling characters and situations.Roy is stuck in the case without making any progress, and the situation with Susan is challenging. Moreover, this quickly becomes a complicated web of lies and cover-ups that spirals out of control. When the church gets involved things rev up even more and the line between good and evil gets blurry really fast. Just at that point, the author has us in the right situation to deliver a huge surprise with a powerful 1-2.I have to say that the author did a great job in delivering a volume that made me want to read more about this story. However, it seems to me that he will have to build on many elements to keep the readers engaged. The success or failure of the series will depend in his ability to do that. Towards the end of this volume, we get introduced to an unexpected character, which bodes well for volume 2. If I were you, I would give this series a try.

Mind blowing!
When I picked up this manga and read the back that stated: "For the fans of Hellsing and Berserk comes an all new ultraviolent supernatural manga series about history's most famous slasher, with a twist..." I KNEW that this would be an epic manga! I highly recommend this manga for any and all Hellsing/Berserk fans!! I can't wait for the second one!

Jack the ripper: Hell blade vol 1
Really good start to the story. Can't wait to read the next one. I loved Hellsing and this is right up my street.
