Modern Music: Expanded & Remastered Edition

I have the original vinyl and CD of this album and recently i had a track come up on my car player. It sounded so dull and lame so when i learned of a remix i had to order it. Instruments I never heard were so present and the vocals were greatly improved too. This set came with the original mix and remix, so I ripped them to my pc and compared the tracks and was amazed at what I heard. I think they stripped it of some echo which made a difference also. The echo at the end of "bring back the spark" is missing on the new mix but that's ok i can trade some echo for an all-around improvement.

A great mix of a classic recording!

Take it from everyone here and someone who has been listening to this record for 40 years. I also produce my recordings and was once a musician in a signed band. I mentioned this because having worked in recording studios, this is a truly a remastering job. The producer did a great job and I won't be surprised if Bill Nelson had input. You will hear soooooo many more things on this version than the original. Go listen on youtube and compare the two versions. You will be blown away. It's not just the levels of the instruments and the vocals, the musicality of where, when and how much was tweaked here truly puts the "master" in this remastered version.

For me overall this is the best Bebop Deluxe album, a unique original pioneering art rock band with space age lyricism in their songs. Many very good tracks, especially Modern Music, Kiss of Light, The Gold At The End of My Rainbow, Down On Terminal Street and Make The Music Magic.

Totally biased review as they can't do any wrong. Good selection and interesting to listen to. Small differences that are nice to have and listen to. Long live Bill Nelson!!!

Great to hear this album in remastered format. So much clearer and good value with the added tracks too.

Not quite as good as Sunburst finish, but still sounds great in today's modern world.
