The biggest problem I had with it is that when I tried to find a music shop to do the first time setup for it, the tag that was most important for several guitar stores was "made in china" not "fender". Apparently, some local music stores dislike the money they could make doing setups. They did not care about the "fender" but refused to work on an instrument that has a label that indicates manufacture in china. I do not really understand why this would be... fender wouldnt let them put their label on it if it was total garbage. In the end, I simply asked around until I found a store that would do the setup. They lowered the nut and improved the action on it and this mandolin became exactly what I needed it to be, and my fingers are developing nice, strong calluses. The tone here is good, the look is very good. Also if you are buying this and want the case, the fender mandolin case fits this instrument like a glove.If i were looking to be a professional musician I probably would spend more on a professional grade mandolin. If, on the other hand, you are simply looking for something to be a hobbyist with, this is a fine item. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Nice general purpose insturment *by M***O on July 2, 2015* Good for what it is. The sound is a bit more tiny than a well aged mandolin, but hey.. its new. There is a rattle I haven't been able to find yet. Very easy to play, holds tune.. etc. If I could get the rattle solved, I would give it another star. ### ⭐ Ehh....decided to send back. *by N***D on June 25, 2011* Good beginner mandolin, if you like blowing your money away. Very cheaply made, not worth the price. Mine had marks in the wood grain that looked awful. Had decent sound. Rule of thumb, never purchase musical instruments online, always go to a store to purchase so that you know what it looks like and how good it plays up front.
