Financial Statements [Paperback] [Thomas R. Ittelson] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Financial Statements [Paperback] Review: Well worth the investment! - This book addresses an issue with some recent textbooks, presenting the material in a complex manner just for it's own sake. I'm a returning student following up by getting a higher degree. The last time I was exposed to accounting material, it wasn't so convoluted. It was geared toward preparing the student for the workplace. The book does show a great job in the relationship between specific data that's used in another financial statement. Another aspect the author does well with is the underlying concepts of why things work and why there was a trend to record a specific way. The material also covers topics presented in a finance course in a clearer and simpler method than those specific texts. I've used this book on a kindle and the pc reader. The kindle is good for casual reading while the pc version is useful for notes and zooming in on figures. This is a very solid quick referrence book. Useful in the workplace because for a small firm you'll be bogged down by the daily transactions, then at the end of the month you transition to working on financials. Incidentally, the authors explanations would be useful in Excel. Properly set up, it could identify discrepancies quickly. Review: This book is perfect for ones that want to learn finance - This book is perfect for ones that want to learn finance, economy, and stocks. Great for an absolute beginner. This book really helps be to have better understanding when I research through websites like investopedie. I was very confused the first time at investopedia and couldn't understand a whole lot. But after reading this book and how simple and easy to understand it is, I can understand finance in general and learn a lot of finance vocabularies with a lot less effort. If I can give it 100 stars, I will

Informative if you read carefully
Although I haven't finished reading this book... (Kindle Edition)... I give the content of this book four stars. Once I remembered that learning anything new requires some effort, & ceased fretting about not getting the spoon-fed presentation that a paperback would provide, I was happy with my purchase. I have a widescreen Acer monitor, so instead of fretting with the Kindle PC version display, I used the Windows OS software to switch from landscape mode to portrait mode, and physically turned the screen. I did have to adjust the: * Words per line. * Font Size ....using the Kindle for PC font icon. But after that, reading & studying the content got easier. Will post more as I progress through the book. Cheers.

Good, Practical Source
Had a hardcopy. But because i soon needed extra space, I had to get rid of a lot of books. This one was important enough to actually purchase the Kindle edition so I could use with my Tablet. The presentation is one of the most practical I found, taking it step by step for usual transactions and basic accounting. It also shows the impact on the financial statements. It is somewhere between basic bookkeeping and intermediate accounting. The step by step approach I found helpful and enabled me to fill the gap quickly since my formal training is in other areas.

Ittleson makes learning easy
I am a long time business owner wanting to sharpen my financial accounting skills. I found the format of this book engaged my curiosity, and held my interest throughout. The book teaches financial accounting from the perspective of an entrepreneur launching a business. The author clearly explains how to record the majority of transactions a small to medium sized business will see and later gets into the foundations of some financial analysis techniques such as ratio analysis and DCF analysis using NPV and IRR. Since the concepts are taught through the eyes of a business owner facing challenges and decisions similar mine, it was easy to relate to and truly learn.

Remarkable Printed Layout is LOST in Kindle version.
This is an excellent book, but the Kindle edition falls short. The remarkable layout in the print version which shows step by step in a side by side (right and left pages) view is LOST in the kindle version. I find myself flipping pack and forth because there is no way to view this in a "two page" display. I ended up also buying the print version, which of course is not immediately accessible like the kindle is. Either Kindle settings need more abilities, or the publishing house that created the Kindle version needed to take more time in the creation of this version.

A good step to developing financial inteligence
If you're attempting to develop your financial intelligence, its important to understand not only financial terms, but how financial statements (and they're standard in America regardless of what industry you operate in) work. This book does a good job making a very dry subject interesting and understandable. I feel much more knowledgeable now than I did before reading this book. That being said, just quickly reading through the book won't magically enlighten you. I took notes and wrestled with the concepts in order to gain the basic understanding I now have.

Great way to review accounting, but recommend printer version over kindle for this particular subject matter.
This is a really good book for review. I am going back into a business degree and Its been several years since I have had accounting. This book acted as a great refresher and it is laid out in a very logical manner. I would say that you might wanted to consider the printed version vs the kindle version. Because of the layout of the book and the type of subject matter, it does not lend itself to be easy to read on the kindle.
