Licorice Root Raw Herb

I purchased this for potpourri, so I was planning on having it smell strongly. I was kind of surprised that it did not, but that's okay. I plan to make sachets and I have anise extract to put on a cotton ball in the center and will stabilize with Orris root. I'm also going to try crushing some of the licorice root to see if that releases more odor. Whatever is left over I plan to use for cooking. I will investigate recipes with licorice, but you have to be careful about the amount you use. Any that dries is great for grinding/powering. You can also dry in a slow oven on a foil-lined cookie sheet (then just fold the foil and pour the dried herb directly into container). CAUTION: LICORICE can cause DIARRHEA if ingested in more than small quantities!!
