Brilliantly Written
Another one of Jo Spainโs that kept me guessing to the end! Loved and enjoyed every word and minute of it!

Love the Tom Reynolds series
I absolutely loved this series of books. Im living in hope that there will be a no 6. Sad to say goodbye to all of the characters. I've only just recently started reading crime fiction and Jo Spain has given me the taste for more. Highly recommended. Thanks Jo for many hours of entertainment.

Gut-grabbing mystery!
Jo Spain does it again with another gripping, suspense novel! Spain has quickly become my favorite author and I eagerly looked forward to delving into this book. She does not disappoint! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a twisting, well-written page turner.

Good Read
I really enjoyed this book, it is a good mystery & , of course , the ending is not at all what I expected. I have enjoyed all of the Tom Reynolds series and look forward to the next

Good Book
I love the Tom Reynolds series & this did not disappoint. I Like Jo Spain's books a lot . It's nice to read authors from somewhere other than the US.

Another great read
Another brilliant book from Jo Spain. The Tom Delaney character makes for a realistic and attractive protagonist. I heartily recommend

The fifth in the series.
I didn't enjoy this book in the series as much as previous ones. Reynolds and his team solved the problem murder in an interesting, if rather implausable, storyline dealing with juvenile delinquents but the characters irritated and although the swearing may be used authentically I find the repition uninteresting and off-putting. Must we endure bad language on the written page, too?

A solid mystery!
I am new to the Tom Reynolds series, having discovered this book while on holiday in Dublin.I think that Joe Spain writes a solid story and weaves timely political points into her narrative.I believe that most people can easily relate to the character of Reynolds in his dealings at home, with co-workersand superiors. Can't wait for my next book to arrive.

Another entertaining novel in the Tom Reynold series
This is the fifth in the Tom Reynolds series and I've enjoyed the other so hoping for more of the same here. The story starts in the usual way with the prologue introducing the crime and giving some back story. Chapter one then takes us to Tom and his colleagues, moving them all on from the last book - they are at a police ball which is a great chance to see them all.Jo Spain likes to tackle specific areas of society (religion, politics and medical care in other books) and here she considers class and privilege, looking at the effect of background on the way crimes are committed and investigated. We see from the start in the way the 15 year old case is described, with its "mental health issues" and โฌ1.2 million family home. There is a slight disappointment at the start when a member of the team is involved in the case to be the centre of the plot. This dilutes the plausibility of the rest of the plot - it could happen but is really unlikely. Most of the narrative is shown from Tom's perspective but there are plenty of peeks into the lives of the youngsters involved, giving the reader reasons to believe that Tom is doing the right thing in pursuing the investigation. We don't know why Daniel is refusing to talk but that'll come out later....The novel is based around a reinvestigation so assumptions have already been made and lies have already been told. Tom looks at the death again and starts to challenge the "facts". I'm not convinced he would be doing this himself when he is just about to take on a big promotion but was happy to let that slide for the sake of the story. There wasn't the predictable drama towards the end (usually at least one of the team's lives are in danger) which was to the benefit of the book. Tom still has a moment where everything suddenly becomes clear to him - unlikely but I guess it's what he does!I really enjoyed the story - from the start I was fairly sure which way the plot would go and liked the plot strands that were added in to throw the reader off the scent and add complications. A few hints were given to point to the actual conclusion but I honestly didn't see it coming. The last few chapters were rushed which could have been avoided. Once we know what happened on the night I wanted time to digest it and find out a bit more about the effects of all those involved.Overall this was another entertaining crime novel and I'll be interested to see what the next one is like with Tom having been promoted.

Gรกrda investigation
Another DCI Tom Reynolds and crew police procedural. Themes of loyalty ( both to family and to the group), spousal disharmony and adolescent secrecy are covered. The plausible is very plausible and each of the characters plays a relevant role. The ultimate solution may be that bit too convenient.

Another great Tom Reynolds
Fantastic story again but just wondered how suddenly everyone is a DCI rather than a DI as in previous books? Despite that i really admire the story telling by this author as well as the detection processes. Really keeps you guessing and I was sirry to reach the end. Thankfully there is a new ine in this series on the way.

Another great inspector Tom Reynolds mystery
I enjoyed this book as much as all the others in the series and I must admit I found myself falling for a couple of red herrings and the story was as usual well written I just hope that with all the promotions in the book this is not drawing to a close of the series.๐

Brilliant
Everything anyone could ask for in a detective novel . Just so disappointed I couldn't make it last longer. If!
