Universal Drip Fittings are designed with an insert barb and outer collar which ensure a tight connection across a range of 1/2-inch tubing sizes from 16mm to .710. This makes them especially useful for repairs of non-Orbit drip systems. The barb and collar design make it possible to remove and reuse the fittings. I had to drill them out with my drill press to make them fit and it was still a hard job to get them to screw or slide down on my black vinyl hose line. The problem may be that the hose had spread from pressure or that it was 5/8 not 1/2. But even if it was 5/8, try to distinguish the difference of application. Like Nancy Reagan, just say no.
