Paper Cutter Metal Base Trimmer

This cutter is surprisingly a very good product for the price. A bit flimsy but for it's low price, not bad at all!

Very disappointed with the quality. Handle does not stay on as well as removable pieces. Blade is not sharp enough.I will need to purchase another one as this paper cutter is not useable.

I bought this unit to replace a paper cutter with a broken plastic handle. The quality of this unit is amazing, almost everything is made of heavy gauge metal. The only things made of plastic are the black spring loaded arms for holding the paper in place. The blade on this unit works by shearing the paper rather than cutting through it with a sharp blade. This works great with paper, perfectly smooth edges, but my not work well for cutting things like plastic tape, which I tried to do, since plastic tape is not as stiff as regular paper.

I really thought this would be nicer. I was expecting a solid board like they use in schools, not a thin folded sheetmetal. The weight difference from what I was expecting is significant as those with a solid wood base that I've used in the past are much heavier and don't move around nearly as much. The feet kept wanting to fall off as well because it gets moved around a lot but I fixed that with some cheap sticker feet. It's my fault for not looking closely enough. But being a mid-grade med-large size with 4 stars, I made the assumption. Also, I am still both disappointed yet surprised that the cutting arm has no blade at all. Just a machined metal bar. What I will say is that it cuts well despite this. The layout of the measurement grid is accurate and the little bar that holds the paper down ahead of the cutter is just genius. Overall it's a good cutter and does the job. It just isn't what I expected it to be.

This paper trimmer was a pleasant surprise. I especially like the paper hold down arm. It swings out of the way when the cutter is raised and then comes down before the blade to securely holds the paper in place. The metal frame is very solid. The size guides are useful, but I fear they will eventually wear off, unlike guides that are impressed into wood or plastic bases.

The size is great for the price. The design of the locking system appears as though it could eventually cause the blade to not cut well. But for now, it cuts a clean edge with a guard which is helpful. However the biggest disappointment with this paper cutter is it is definitely a LIGHT DUTY paper cutter. I have a 30" Ingento paper cutter that I use for most of my work, but wanted a small portable one for quick cuts. This one will do that, however it will not cut well through a regular thickness piece of cardboard. So for that, I still have to resort to my faithful trusty Ingento. Very disappointing.

I bought this for my daughter who is a graphic designer and frequently creates decals for her customers for business signs, car/truck doors, etc. She was always complaining of having to cut her decals with scissors and trying to get clean straight cuts. So, I had this sent to her house.She says it works great for her decals. Cuts nice, clean, straight lines and she loves it. I can't say anything about cutting paper or other things, but for her decal work, it appears to be a perfect solution.
