I did not read the specs entirely when I purchased flashlight. It is bigger than I thought it would be. It does take 8 or 9 AAA batteries. But it is super bright. I live in the country with orchards and this flashlight does not mess around with being bright. We do not use it everyday but it is used a couple times a week. So far battery life is great. Happy I found this and for the price you can not pass it up. I have others that take special batteries, I can buy AAA batteries in bulk for the same price as one of the others. So to me this is a smart buy.

Coast makes excellent lights, I have been using them for years. This model is great for those who want a larger light with longer life. I highly suggest buying lithium Ion non-rechargeable batteries, especially if you light sits dormant most of the time. I have ruined more than one light with alkaline battery leakage.

This thing is so freaking bright I got a tan. I use it to melt cheese on my nachos.Seriously, it so bright you can see your future.I used it to ghost hunt and saw a shadow figure. This flashlight vaporized it.
