Over the last couple of years I have noticed that shaving has become a real chore, not least because it seems to take so long. I have used Philishave all my shaving life and feel now that I need to change. My old - actually only a little over a year old - razor seems to spend more time pulling out my hairs and when it does cut, it doesn't cut enough off, so I still have stubble.I've toyed with the idea of changing to a Braun for a few years now and finally I bit the bullet and went for this model - Braun Series 7 Electric Shaver for Men - as I felt that my face needed some help.WowFrom the very first shave, it was obvious that this was a successful decision. My first shave lasted less than two (YES 2 ) minutes and the result was the closest shave I have had for quite a long while. I could not believe that an electric razor could shave so closely, with minimum effort and time. It was so close that the following day, I actually didn't need to shave!!! Also my skin was/is without any nicks or soreness.I checked out if older skin, I am 72, was any different from younger skin and discovered that the Braun type of shaver is probably best - take my word for it, there is no 'probably' about it - indeed I am actually enjoying shaving again, something I would have never believed.There is little else to add, except maybe - it feels great in the hand, it is a bit noisy, but that is because it has an extremely fast powerful motor and with a good sized head (the razor's head, not mine) a good shave is quick and straightforward. To answer any questions about the other aspects of the razor is something I have yet to discover, I just wanted you, dear reader of my review, to know just how blown away I am with this amazing shaver.Well done Braun and thank you.****UPDATE****Had this for over a year now and it still gives a really close shave. The shaving blades still seem to be sharp enough and the razor keeps its charge for over a week at a time - big plusses there.If ever I do decide to upgrade, then it most definitely will be another Braun.

Works great, close shave.

This is an upgrade from my recently dead Norelco (now Philips). The Braun Series 7 shaver gives a good close shave and the head moves with the contours of your jaw. The stand ("SmartCare Center") is quite large and incorporates a disposable, replaceable cleaning system, which seems a bit unnecessary. The shaver also sits upside down in this stand, which leaves beard shavings in the stand. Not a great design, but it's supposed to integrate with the cleaning system in the base of the stand. I've just used the stand only for charging and lie the shaver on its side.

Having persevered with a Braun Series 5 for 10 years, which to me still seemed to do a good job but was in need of yet another new foil and cutter, I took the plunge and decided instead to invest in a new Series 7. What a revelation! The new razor is simply marvelous and what I thought was a reasonable, if noisy, shave with the Series 5 has been shown to be very inferior compared to the quiet and wonderfully smooth shave of the Series 7 which just seems to flow over the face, effortlessly cutting. I rarely write reviews, which I feel have been generally degraded as so many are incentivized, but I can assure you this one is not and I can thoroughly recommend the product entirely on its merits having used it now for a few months.

I have had a number of Braun shavers over the years, I started with a Series 7 - this was a good solid unit, but the beard trimer stuck out the back & always caught my hand. I then moved up to a Series 8, this was not as good as the 7, it was a poor design & did not deliver a good shave! The new Series 7 is excellent, nice in the hand, the flexible head is a big improvement in design, plus there are no "sticky out bits" so the unit is really comfortable in the hand. The head simply clips on & off & doesn't feel the most positive but after 3 months its not had any problems - all in, a good solid unit which is working really well...

I like it. A nice quick shave, can,t fault it so 5 stars. Although the instructions are very poor as regards the stand.

I’m not used to an electric shaver but after a while you get the nack.

Really poor quality and design in the way the shaver head clips on fell off in use within two weeks and broke the foil. Would not recommend
