A great read, chock full of the shortest stories imaginable
A great read, chock full of the shortest stories imaginable. And yet somehow Lydia Davis still manages to surprise and delight with almost every little morsel, and the ones that don't quite connect are over before you have a chance to dislike them too much.

Brevity is the soul of wit.
A short story writer of precision, humour and poignant insight. One savors each beautifully crafted sentence like the elements of an exquisite meal.

Very good short stories
Very good short stories. Good read for short periods, but gets a little tiresome if you keep at it for long periods. I think it's best enjoyed while sipping some coffee; the time it'll take you to finish the cup will get you through about two stories

A big disappointment
Maybe her other work is better but this was a bust !How do people get away with dream snippets when I’m not even allowed to bore my own children with that stuff.Shes a ruminator not a writer.

Her audacity is more impressive than her content
Love the chutzpah Lydia Davis displays in experimenting so wildly with the short story form -but I find it so hard to love the stories themselves-she is fearless however and should be admired ...certainly worth a read

Sehr zufrieden
Ich liebe die Kurzgeschichten. Mein Buch habe ich von England bestellt. Es kam unbeschädigt und in top Zustand wenige Tage später an.

Some of the stories are not bad. Others can be immediatly forgotten
Book that wants to be very original. Some of the stories are not bad. Others can be immediatly forgotten.

like reading the dull diary of a bourgeois
like reading the dull diary of a bourgeois. no wit, insight or felicity. pilfered stories from literary greats. or one paragraph or very short stories with no point or persuasion. an egotistical venture that repays only the author. AVOID!
