Fun and imaginative
I wanted to book that would teach the concept of not judging when things happen as “good” or “bad.”This book doesn’t quite do that, but it is very fun. My granddaughter found this book very enjoyable. It also taught her to read and understand two hard words—fortunately and unfortunately.

It cheers me up to read it
MILO rises and falls, he has disasters and recoveries, and each adventure is more outrageous than the last. Cheerfully illustrated.

Never give up!
Actually this was not the “version” I-remembered. However, still liked it! And I did finally find the original book. Thanks!

A favorite tale
These books came quickly and are in good condition. GREAT STORY for children to learn that life brings bad and good events and often good comes from what seems like bad!

Great Read-aloud
This book is a wonderful read aloud book for children of all ages. The rhythmic flow of words keeps the attention of young listeners. The hilarious story with it's twists and turns helps children understand the reading strategy of cause and effect. Children could easily take the "Fortunately, Unfortunately" device used by the author and create their own stories. I highly recommend this book to parents and teachers.

Fortunately, Unfortunately by Michael Foreman
I bought this book and three others by Michael Foreman for my 4 year old granddaughter. She had borrowed the book from the library and wanted her own copy. This is a funny, lovely book for small children. However, her two older sisters aged 9 and 10 also love the book. Michael Foreman writes thought provoking stories for children; they carry a message without labouring the point, almost incidental. I would recommend his books for children of all ages. Adults will love them too.

Great teaching aid.
The book seems ideal to demonstrate how to correctly use the adverbs as sentence starters - I'll be using it with my Y5 class. Really good examples given and even though I'll be using it with 9/10 year olds, I'm sure they'll enjoy the situations in the story and will not think it's too young for them.
