Nice tool, but it doesn't ratchet without pressure
After years of doing brake jobs and pushing in caliper pistons with a c-clamp and a bar/wrench, I decided to get one of these. I used it on four piston front calipers and single piston rear calipers and it did the job, but a few annoying things:- The magnets to hold the larger pieces in place aren't strong enough. I tried using them, but luckily, it was large enough without the pieces in place to work on the calipers that I did the brake job on.- And the big annoyance is what others have mentioned, in that the wrench will not ratchet without a lot of pressure on the assembly. Ugh. I had to wedge a screwdriver against one side of the plate in order to get the silly thing to ratchet. Once you get in contact with the piston and are pushing it in, it has enough pressure to ratchet, but removing the tool, and getting it in place to start pushing is quite annoying.Still easier than using c-clamps though.

Very useful tool to have
I really like this caliper retractor tool. It's very versatile because it works in most caliper configurations. Single, dual, quad - it'll work. It does take some getting used to, though. You have to hold the center pin when there is no resistance... this is so the ratcheting feature works because of the backdrag. I also don't like that the reversing lever isn't marked. I had to label mine with a paint pen - "IN" and "OUT" - on either side of the wrench. The tool works great at doing its job of retracting the pistons. I'd definitely recommend it.

Prep and familiarize yourself with the tool
This is a great value for the money. I just received it and prepped the tool using silicone lubricant and familiarized myself with how it works, which is something I do with every tool I get and recommend everyone do this. The tool is well built and definitely strong enough to do the job. It’s about the same price of a good C clamp. The spreader plates are hardened steal and the larger plates use magnets to attach to the smaller ones. The magnets do this perfectly. Make sure to prep and familiarize yourself with the tool and you should have no problem.Update October 22, 2020 Tool worked perfectly. Hint There must be a little pressure applied to the plates of the tool for the ratchet to work or click. So when placing the plates between the caliper pistons or piston and outer brace make sure to push a the tools plates together with a little pressure and work the ratchet until it becomes snug, otherwise the ratchet will not engage or “kick in” then you will have no problem with it pushing the caliper pistons in. Then click the switch and losen the plates and just spin the one plate back to reset. Also as I wrote above prep and familiarize yourself with the tool and the switch. Way better than a C clamp!

Made brake jobs easier
This tool is a must have for compressing calipers pistons (it does not work for rotating type calipers pistons), but for the common direct push-in type, it is magically easy to use. It takes 1 minute to compress the caliper. I loved it.

Does it’s job!
Easy to use ratcheting for pushing in caliper pistons. Really dont need the magnetic larger faces (magnets fell out on mine anyway!) but I’ve used in brake calipers for 2017 Audi Q7 and 2007 BMW 328i and this made it so easy.

Cheap quality
It worked for one brake caliper, then started falling apart. Waste of money!

Bad Quality, Broke After Service Completed
- Broke after barely finishing both my front and rear brakes on a 2019 Audi S4.- Removable plates are not magnetically strong enough to stay on.- Have to squeeze the plate and play around with the tool before it starts to extend out and just falls apart afterwards.
