Trial and error
The book that arrived with them was an unexpected surprise - full of useful information and facts. It was trial and error with the spikes though - the pesky pigeons wove their twigs in and out the spikes and continued to make their nest. We had to clear the twigs daily until they got the message. Thought pigeons were supposed to be intelligent - we almost put up a notice hoping they would read it but thought we would persevere with the spikes. They were a bit difficult to attach so we used our own long cable ties. Hopefully, the problem is cured.

Very good for keeping a cat off a radiator.
I have a slightly odd problem in that I have a very thin furred cat who lies on top of the radiator. Even if I turn it to the lowest setting, it's still warm enough to dry out her skin, so she itches, then she overgrooms and strips all her own fur off the parts of her that were in contact with the rad, making herself very sore. A dozen home-made attempts to build things which will keep her off have seen her casually destroy my efforts and laugh cruelly in my face. A shelf above the rad just relocates the problem a few inches higher: she's still getting warm enough to have skin problems. She has half a dozen lovely cosy beds, but no, she prefers the radiator. These marvellous things, attached to the rad using cable ties, have finally won the war for me. They aren't the prettiest solution, but I'll take them off in the summer. And in the meantime, whether she likes it or not, my cat is once again covered in fur from tip to tail.

At Last NO Pigeons!
Used these on the top of our fences and pergola. Easy to attach with cable ties. Job done is less than an hour. The pigeons have stayed well clear, however smaller birds can still perch in between the spikes making it safe for them. The assembly of the spikes onto the plastic strip is easy but time consuming. The spikes are coated in a light "oil" so it is a little messy.I would certainly recommend these, we used the gutter spikes too, they also work very well.My only comment is the book sent with each pack is good but you don't need one with every pack, should be able to opt out

Pigeons Gone!
Looked at a few options before going for the spike type arrangement, as I was concerned that as they were being fitted to a timber pergola that we walk beneath, the spikes might look a bit industrial and unsightly. Whilst at first, I did think my pergola looked like some extra-terrestrial arial(!), I have got used to it now.As far as effectiveness goes though, I made the right choice. You could opt for something a bit more inconspicuous but run the risk of the product not working. No such issues with these - the pigeons can’t get anywhere near the pergola now and my slabs beneath have remained clean and dropping free ever since.

Superb - Does exactly what it says on the tin!
These are brilliant and have had exactly the desired results, I looked at numerous products and reviews and chose the Defender Bird Spikes and I can now recommend these highly! We had new composite decking and raised beds running along 6’ fences, birds and pigeons would sit on top of the fences and crap all over the decking, since installing the defenders not one single drop of poo! No more unsightly mess or constant cleaning up, superb!

Worthwhile
I only gave 1 star for “easy to install” because climbing up a height to attach to an aerial is not easy! However, the actual attachment was straightforward once up a height! They are quite effective, but bear in mind at least two packs were required as these only covered about 50% of the perching places on my aerial. My aerial is a very common style.

Worked really well
Purchased this product to resolve an issue with birds perching on a low aerial that was overhanging our decking. We were having to clean the decking daily due to droppings. Installed these on the aerial and they have completely resolved the issue. We fitted them using cable ties. Would highly recommend this product.
