As the area cools it will switch the heater on again. This cycle will continue until the controller is turned off. I do recommend checking out a quick wiring and setup guide on youtube before installation. (I'm no electrician.) What wasn't quite clear to me at first is that the mains don't power the connected heater/cooler via the device, that's just to power the device itself (left 2 connectors). Then you connect the thermostat (next 2 connections) which seems to be pretty accurate. And for the heater and/or cooler appliance, you cut the neutral cable (black/blue) of the appliance's power cord, strip both ends and connect them to the terminals of the device (heater/cooler). Once set up, it works like a charm and costs much less than other devices I've checked.
