I have an IR remote that gets blocked sometimes, will this work with it and boost the signal?

This is not an IR ‘booster/repeater’, it mimics remotes based on commands sent over WiFi. You can teach it to mimic your remote and then put this in an advantageous location but you’d still have to fish out your phone and use the app.
