Polly Plastics Heat Moldable Plastic Sheets come in a convenient pack of three 8x12 inch sheets, each 1/16 inch thick. Simply heat above 150°F to soften and mold into any shape, then cool to a strong, durable finish. ## Description

Just heat the sheets above 150 degrees F for 2-3 minutes until they turn from translucent to clear, using a heat gun. Work on a smooth glass surface, as the heated plastic won't stick to glass. Once soft, mold them into any shape you desire. Upon cooling, they will be strong and permanent. If you change your mind, you can reheat and modify until you get it right. Since this plastic is so strong, you can drill it, sand it, varnish it or superglue it.

Review: Really useful product. I had previously used the credit card size moldable plastic from another manufacturer. These sheets are easier to use and you get a lot more for your money. Highly recommend if you ever need to fix or modify anything plastic around the house. I have a heat gun, but I found with these sheets it is easier to use hot water. I leave in the hot water just before it becomes fully transparent and then pull out and mold. If you wait until it is fully transparent it will loose all shape.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Once this has been molded into shape, how strong is it?**
A: Well it obviously depends on the shape and the thickness of your application. My application was a cover for my knee similar to a knee pad you might purchase at any hardware store. The knee pad is concave, about 6" deep and 8" wide, and 3/16" thick. It has the same characteristics as a store bought knee pad...firm, flexible, strong. I believe if you were to make something like a hammer handle by moulding 2-3 sheets, it would be close to a fibreglass hammer handle...just lacking the support fibres. If you can be more specific with your question, I'll do my best to answer it.

**Q: What color are these; white or clear?**
A: They are white and when they heat up they become clear so you know when to mold them.  Once cooled in their shape they are white again. You can paint them after too

**Q: Can you use a hair dryer to soften this enough to mold?**
A: A hair dryer for 2 minutes might work...a wall paper remover heat gun would definitely work..boiling water is only 212 degrees, and the product remains malleable down to nearly room temperature and you can manipulate it with your bare hands...give it a try...I'd take a chance on it.

**Q: Is this paintable? What type of paint is best?**
A: Yes, you can paint the part after it cools with acrylic paints or even use permanent markers.  If you want to spray paint it, use a paint made specially for plastics.  Without coloring, the part will be white.  Spraying on a coat of primer for plastics will help adhesion and you can spray on varnish after painting to prevent flaking.

I found this product by searching "clear worbla." Be advised, it is NOT worbla. Worbla is much thicker, more textured, and doesn't bend or warp as easily under heat. These sheets are very similar to the moldable plastic pellets that can be melted down and used for making small structures or strengthening larger pieces. It worked very well for my current project, which involved melting it onto a flat plastic surface in order to seal and strengthen a weaker, flexible plastic. The advantage of this product over the smaller plastic pellets is its ability to be cut to size and shape prior to melting, and to be melted flat on top of piece without using hot water to soften it. It does become very pliant under heat, and must have a flat surface under it to stay flat when heated. Overall, I really enjoyed using this product for my build. 10/10, would recommend.
